Tillers & cultivators
Gas vs. electric: Gas tillers are able to break up hard soil and churn it. Electric tillers have smaller tines and are less powerful. They're easier to maintain because you don't need to change the oil and filter regularly as you do with gas tillers.
Corded vs. uncorded: Corded tillers have an uninterrupted power source, although the length of the cord may restrict you. Battery-powered tillers dont have a restrictive cord, but the battery life limits the usage.
Design differences: A small front-tined tiller is ideal for a small space without rocky or hard soil to contend with. A mid-size front-tined tiller is better if the soil is more compact. When dealing with tight spaces, these are easy to maneuver. For large spaces, opt for a rear-tined tiller, which is also best for rocky or hard ground.
