Instructions: ATTENTION:This model includes a built-in safety interlock mechanism, which requires the shredder to be correctly mounted on to the included wastebasket. Located on the back center of the shredder, next to the power cord, there is a curved flap-like shape that must FIT OVER THE OUTSIDE matching ridge of the wastebasket. I really like this shredder. I was looking for something cheap because I don't do volume shredding, just one person, home-style shredding. It is a noisy little thing, but the shredding comes out small and the crosscut is a great feature. Call me paranoid, but I will take the little bucket around to different inside trash cans and evenly distribute the shreddings, so nothing can be put back together again. I take my garbage out in sections, so it isn't dumped all at once. Where we live people go through the garbage and there is a high chance of identity theft with the type of people that are doing this. You have to take control of these things. I also keep my most important papers in a safe deposit box and lock household papers in a locking filing cabinet. I even keep my purse in a locked filing cabinet rather than just sitting out. These are tips for people who are having problems with snoops. Hope it helps.

This is a terrible shredder. It jams with only 2 sheets of paper. I would recommend that when searching for a good shredder..do not pick this one at any price.

My new 6 sheet crosscut shredder works beautifully. Now I don't have to experience paper stuck in the shredder or a cutter that works too slowly. I love my new tool and would like others to experience the joy of knowing that your data is safely taken care of.

Good price, still working after 5 yr for light use

Bought the WM675XB version (not sure what difference is from WM675XA) 5 years ago for a similar price. Still works fine for home use (shred bills, statements, receipts, etc. 2x a month; a few IDs or credit cards per year) .
When I use shredders, I go 1 or 2 sheets below max capacity, especially if the paper is thick. And I clear out any strips in the teeth or rollers every few sessions.

I just received the shredder last week. The first thing I shredded was an expired credit card. The shredder worked really well on the credit card. I have also shredded some paper (about 50 sheets) and so far it is working well!

One or Two Sheets at a time

Make sure several papers or unopened envelopes aren't pushed thriugh. Jams quite easily. I haven't tried running through a credit card, but it did jam on some fulled solicitation envelopes. It shreds paper so tiny that things can't be reassembled unless by the FBI.
Satisfactory rating for the price. Easy to set up. Electric use.
