Upgraded kitchen garbage can
The Better Homes and Garden motion activated sensor kitchen garbage can is exactly what I was looking for. This can has lots of upgrades. The motion sensor works good, there is a power on/off so you do not waste the batteries and the lid stays open as long as you are near the can. The slim profile allows the can to fit nicely next to my counter. Very happy with the cost and quality of the kitchen garbage can.

Not worth the money!
From day one of having this trash can I have been very sad. It bends and dents very easily. Definitely not worth the money.

    Space Age Trash Can A++
    Best trash can I ever had. Swiping near the lid panel activates the motion detector and the lid opens automatically. The lid stays open for 6 seconds then closes. However, if your scraping dishes and hover over can, it will stay open until you walk away. Very streamline design. I like how it rests flat up against the refrigerator without any space behind. The stainless steel matches all my appliances. A very sturdy and attractive addition to the kitchen. The lid detector does need 4 “C” batteries to function and are not included.

    Nice trashcan... bad delivery... go to the store
    So I ordered this trashcan and was super excited for it to be delivered... and then I take it out of the box to find out it's dented in multiple spots. I contact customer service and they tell me they'll send a replacement and then just mail the first back. Second one gets delivered... box was broken and the trashcan was dented more than the first! So I again contact customer service and they refunded me and dont worry about returning the second one which was nice of them. But at this point I'm just irritated that I have to now waste my time going to the Fedex store to drop off the stupid dented trashcan (I work nights so getting to the store can be difficult). After all this (and issues with other orders) I might just be done ordering deliveries from Walmart... at least until they stop using Fedex...

    Well-Designed Trash Can
    This is a well-designed trash can with many convenient features. The can is 24”tall, 15”wide and 11” deep…holding a standard 13 gallon trash bag. The can features a no-show liner design…there is a removable holding rim inside. I didn't use the feature due to using this in my laundry room. The item is made of fingerprint resistant stainless steel and will resist rust and corrosion. There are two hinged handles on the sides that make it convenient to move. There is also a drip pan in the bottom of the can to help capture a leaky bag and make clean up a little easier. The trash can uses a dual motion activated sensor located on top. I've learned it works best when you don't wave to close to the sensor. The sensor can be a little testy at times. However, you don't want it too sensitive and opening every time anything gets near it. The sensor has a digital display that counts down from 6 seconds. This lets you know when it will close. The lid will remain open if you are standing over it. So, this allows you to use it for a prolonged time without it constantly closing. The lid is smooth when opening and closing…no catapulting or slamming. The can operates with 4 C batteries. They state it will open 15,000 times before battery replacement….we'll see. Overall, I've been pleased with this trash can and would recommend it.

    Looks great and mostly works
    I love the size and shape of this trash pail. I also really like the handles on the sides. I like that it's rectangular and fits better into a corner in my kitchen. There is a plastic ring that goes around the top of the trash pail to hold up the plastic bag and keeps it on the inside so that it doesn't show on the outside. As far as trash pails go this is a great looking trash pail. Now onto the not so good. The garbage can came in a box that was not crushed in any way. The box appeared to be in perfect condition however the trash pail was dented on two sides in the back and a corner in the front. I circled the dents in the pictures. While no one is seeing the back of the trash pail I wonder if it left the manufacturing facility dented. Also the motion sensor which I love the idea of is not perfect. Sometimes a quick wave of the hand opens the lid and sometimes I could be waving 4 times before it opens. I do like that it closes itself after a few seconds. This garbage can has the potential to be amazing. If it was not dented upon receipt and the sensor worked better I would absolutely love it. For now it's good enough and I still really like it in spite of having to waive my hand more than once at the sensor.

    This is a nice, clean looking trash can. I went from a tall red one with a lid to this. I like it but the sensor doesn't seem to respond very well. It takes a couple of passes over the sensor with your hand to get the lid to open. And if you are throwing egg shells, that will not work. I tried from different angles and distances. My husband got frustrated and just manually opened, which defeats the purpose of having a sensor opening lid. I will keep it in my kitchen because I like how it looks and maybe I will get the hang of opening it.

    No Touch Trashcan
    This automatic trashcan doesn't seem as sturdy as it should be. Sometimes I have to wave my hand more then twice to get it to open. Also, it doesn't have a container inside; it only has plastic plate will not keep leaks from trashcan from leaking on the floor.

    My new BFF in the kitchen!
    I loved this trash can from the moment I took it out the box. It was easy to assemble (small head Philip screwdriver to place 4-C batteries in the battery compartment), place the drip pan in the bottom of the trash can, place trash bag through trash can ring, place the ring in the trash can. Quick and easy setup. It is very lightweight. I love the color (black) of the trash can. It doesn't clash with my kitchen decor. It is the perfect size for my family. We have experienced jo problem since have began using it. It does take some getting use to as we were thinking it would instantaneously detect we are standing in front of it. But after a few seconds it does respond. Fortunately, it doesn't randomly open if anyone is walking by it as I'm sure that would drain the battery. The ability to turn off the sensor switch on the side of the trash can has not been utilized at my home because we don't have any reason to turn it off. I do feel it's a great feature but if the need to turn it off is necessary. I previously had a flip top trash can making me have to use my hands to place items in the trash. I usually clean as I'm preparing or cooking food in my kitchen. The flip top trash can would require me to constantly wash my hands because I would have to touch the flip top in order to place trash items in it. The sensor top trash can takes all of this frustration away. Due to COVID I was already washing my hands often causing my hands to dry out very fast. If any spills or droppings get onto the trash can, they wipe off easily. I don't smell any of the remnants of the trash inside because it does have a seal that doesn't allow the smell of anything to come through the lid unlike my flip top. Fortunately, I haven't had anything to seep through my trash bag to require the drip pan to be needed.

No doubt, automatic sensor trash cans are improving our daily lives thanks to their integrated movement sensors. Their operating principle is simple: it opens automatically when movement is observed near the opening. With a motion sensor trash receptacle, you will automatically open and close the lid of the bin without needing to touch the bin physically. When the infrared motion sensor detects the motion of your hand the lid opens automatically. The hands-free technology makes a motion sensor trash can very hygienic and convenient because you do not touch it to deposit waste. This BH&G receptacle has an Intelligent Sensor Mechanism: Infrared fields that sense the areas above and in front of the can, so it opens automatically and effortlessly with just the wave of your hand. Black mirror like door finish, square, elegant profile, and design. Uses 4 “C batteries (not included). IR touch free operation, bag ring, drip pan, slow close lid with digital countdown display, stay open sensor, dual chrome handles, non-slip base. Uses common 13-gal trash bags. I really like this trash can, from looks to operation, a lot of pluses. Packaged very well for shipment. The major drawback might be that it does not have the ability to use an AC adaptor. I will have to see how battery life goes since it also is not recommended to use rechargeable batteries. Don't stress, be happy - actually read the directions for where the sensors are for opening or staying open before use. Simple enough in concept but somehow, I just never do. Life is messy sometimes, but your trash doesn't have to be. So, whether you want to cut down on germs or footsteps, this trash can is up to the task.
