Perfect for my bedroom
I'm loving this little heater! It's very easy to use and heats up my small bedroom surprisingly fast. It comes fully assembled, so it's ready to go right out of the box. The dial on the left is the thermostat knob. It has no numbers to go by, you simply turn it left (decrease temp) or right (increase temp) depending on the temperature setting you'd like. Once you've chosen the desired temperature, the heater will remain on until the room temperature increases to that level. The heater will then cycle on and off to maintain the desired room temperature. The dial on the right is the function knob. Here you have five different options to choose from: Low heating with flame (750W), High heating with flame (1,500W), Flame only, Heating only, and of course OFF. I really like that I have the choice of having just the fire effect on without the heat being on at the same time. The flames are quite relaxing and it gives the room a nice cozy feeling. Works well as a nightlight. It also comes equipped with a great safety feature located on the bottom of the unit. If you were to accidentally knock the heater over, or even just tilt or lift it a little, it automatically shuts off. Once it's placed back in the upright position it will continue working. It has an overheating protection feature as well, so I feel very safe using this heater. It's lightweight and the leather handle makes it easy to move around the house wherever it's needed. The surface stays cool to the touch except for where the heat comes out at the front. It's pretty quiet too. So far it's exactly what I had hoped for. Would definitely recommend!

Poorly designed and loud
I live in AZ and rarely turn my heat on, but thought this would be nice to put in my unused fireplace to take the chill out of the room. Unfortunately, the cord is too short and instructions say not to use with extension cord. So unit has to be on the floor which makes using/seeing the controls difficult. Why not put the controls on the top of the unit so I don't have to lift it up? Also, the fan is tinny and loud. The faux fire I don't even use and is, well, fake. The strap is not leather, but some type of synthetic which is a good thing. Not sure why they say "leather". It heats and does heat up the room well even on the lower setting, but you wouldn't want this in a room where you are working, watching TV, or trying to sleep because it is loud for such a small unit. Disappointing.

    Does the job
This little “fireplace” does a great job as long as you realize it's not a traditional heater. Rather than warming the air, it warms the objects in the room so don't count on it to be your only source of heat. We use it to maintain the temperature in our all season room by using our room's mini split system to get it to the temperature we want. Then the little fireplace heater keeps it there and will even raise the temperature higher than the mini split system is set for. As the instruction book says, it will not work well in an uninsulated or open space. It has great safety features-turns off as soon as you lift it off the floor, so tipping it over will shut it off, no worries about starting a fire. You can set it to heat with or without the decorative flames, but we always use the flame setting since it looks so pretty. It took us awhile to be sure, but we've decided it's a great little heater for our purposes.

Nice addition to NYC Apartments without fireplace!
This portable electric fireplace heater is a welcome addition to my New York City apartment to supplement the heat which is controlled by the landlord. The visual "flames" add to the ambiance of any room setting the mood to enjoy your time together by a cozy warm "fire" without the cleanup or need for venting. With the controls, you have the option of full functionality in low or high speed or using the heater without the "flames", or using the "flames" without the heater. The safety switch makes sure that it's safely sitting flat on the floor. Leather handle is provided for handling it safely.

    Powerful
The freestanding portable fireplace is a powerful fireplace heater. As the temperatures dipped in the 40,s I found the perfect opportunity to use this unit. It is important to read the manufacture instructions and not plug into a power strip. So I plugged in the heater(fireplace) and it kicked out some serious heat. It did not take a long time to heat up my living room. It is a very attractive unit, with the ambiance of a small fireplace. The back ventilation pushes out forced air. As I was not ready to turn on my furnace this was a perfect unit to take the chill off the room, and it did just that. You also control the flow level of the unit. You may want to plug it in outside first as there was a little smoke that emitted first. This is also noted in the instructions before you use.

D heater I hesitated about but it has class spunk
I like this fireplace, & it seems high functioning. It's cute, handle is nice (leave it above D fireplace, my take<<>> not user manual, R, I overlooked it!) I didn't get D odor! Heads up 1. make sure D heater (Isn't on D same circuit with another item) (*wasn't so easy at first) 2. & don't plugged it N D same outlet with anything else, (easy) There is No remote control: only looked due 2 knob's location. It will help familiarizing positions of D 2 knobs, function& thermostat levels. If not, I had 2 kneel & lean 2 operate its' 2 knobs. D user manual (shows) where each knob positions should B. I just found it uncomfortable, maybe due 2 not having 20/20 vision, but below D knobs R levels, so it isn't all on my lack of 20/20. As well reads: could B an odor, D why, R what causes D odor? information & distinguishes fireplace heating, from regular heaters. When operating D reflection/ shadows from direction of rear panel: D fireplace shadows D heat flickering behind it as it's operating. It appears 2 have a couver panel (grill rectangular on D back of it). D circuit & D outlets where I & any purchaser plug D heater 4 safety, requires that this fireplace B on its own circuit (not with any other item) & it's own breaker (designated 15amps?). I threw a breaker on day 2, too many, or 2 much electricity (active & combined using in my front bedroom, & at least 1 outlet N dining room, R on D same circuit N my home), D, (*Wasn't So Easy Part) mentioned above in this review. This is a century old house. I've been proscratinating N hiring an electrician, 2 check outlets & add lighting, other. D user manual, I am glad I read it. Though a powerful heater heard and felt the force if it in heating up. I also heard a roughness at least one time. Due 2 my limited number of outlets, & Unless I may blow another circuit, along with my not wanting 2 run up, & down my stairs, I wasn't able 2 learn more on why there was a rough sound. It wasn't enough 2 change my mind. For if it's used properly according 2 user manual, this is still a good, powerful, & cute with spunk, & classy fireplace!

    Great little heater
I use this heater dor my dining area n it does a great job. Its small but it warms up the area. I love the fact that if its picked up it shuts off automatically n when u place it on the floor it turns back on. It has a strap that looks like leather n is sturdy when u pick it up. You can turn the heat on along with the fireplace or just have the fireplace on display with no heat on warm days. My son loves it cus he says looks like a campfire. This is a great heater from better homes and gardens. I love it

    Great space heater/fireplace.
I love this portable fireplace! It looks good and heats effectively. The fireplace display can be used without the heat on, so it is versatile. The strap is removable, so we will take it off when we are not moving it. We have been using it in the basement man cave. It It's so far doing as well as the ceramic space heater, but we haven't experienced extended cold yet.

    I Love It!
This portable fireplace is just what I needed to warm me up on cold winter nights! I love watching the "flames" which can be used in 2 different settings, 750 btu and 1500 btu, and you can also turn off the visual aspect of the fire and just use heat alone, or turn off the heat and just use the visual fireplace alone. It's also surpringly lightweight so easy to carry from one room to the next. I've always wanted one like this and I love it!

    Best heater I have had.
This portable fireplace heater is a nice added touch to any home where you might have a colder room during winter. My kitchen I have always used a portable heater since it is the room I want warmer. With this heater it warms the room up fast and keeps it at the set temperature. The added flame effect looks so real. You can choose from low heating with flame, high heating with flame, flame only or heat only by using the control knob. I find the low heat with flame works best for me. Having a dog I like the idea of the tip-over safety feature, and I like that the dark walnut case does not heat up, it is cool to the touch.
