performance in snow
I'm driving a Hyundai Elantra and getting stuck in 2 inches of snow with all season tires was getting old, so I opted for a set of WS80's. These tires provide excellent traction and control, and a level of safety everyone should be looking for. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend these.

Great for icy roads
Despite some reviews about a poor road feel, these tires are the only way to go for driving in snow and ice. On a Rav4 (mind you, its a 4whell drive vehicle) using my seasonal tires, I was slipping and sliding at sharp corners or when the road was slanted at corners near my home in NJ. But with these tires, I hardly ever needed to slow down on corners and hardly ever slipped. I can't say they give me the perfect ride or the most comfortable one, and truly on dry road sometimes give a feel of drag. But then why would I buy them for dry road, Hello? They are rubber tires. I give these tires a 4.5 out of 5 to be fair across the board. All season tires just didn't cut it for me. This one is a no brain-er for me. I only wish that I could afford them on all of my cars. One set has taken me for 3 winters so far and now on the 4th.

These are phenomenal tires in the snow and ice. I have these on my all-wheel drive matrix and the grip/handling at hwy speed in snow/ice is the best I have ever felt. I drive 70mi round trip each day and these have held up well with very little wear showing, the new nubs lasted for over 1000mi, which is incredible considering the soft compound the tire is constructed of. the handling is a bit vague in dry/warmer weather but these tires are not made for that anyway. They make up for it when the weather results in cold/icy/snow packed roads. I tested the tires in a abandon parking lot (straight line braking, brake-turn, accel-turn, direction change, etc) and I had to be "aggressive" to get the tires to yield their traction to the conditions. un-believable performance in less than ideal conditions.

    BEST VALUE FOR SAFETY
The Blizzak tire has been the best tire I have ever spent money on. We have a drive way that is slopped a good 20 plus degrees. Normally we just slide down the driveway and hope we don't hit anything in the winter. I could stop on a dime on my driveway with the Blizzak tire. I was blown away at the traction they offer. We will not put another tire on any of our family vehicles.

Haven't found a bad winter condition yet
I used to run Michelin X-Ice2 on my Camry during the winter and had to avoid really bad ice, snow, slush condition. Since getting the Blizzak WS80 on my Outback, I'm longing for a really really challenging situation just to try out the combination. So far, I've just got one 30-cm snow storm, but nothing seemed to be too challenging including up and down steep sharp curves on 6 cm of slush and ice with the car still running like the Camry on dry road. Well, there are still 3 months of harsh winter left, and I hope to get more fun.

    Huge benefit on Camry Hybrid
The Camry Hybrid has traction control that cannot be defeated. Perhaps this is done to protect the electric motors, but last year it was enough of a problem that I had trouble parallel parking on the hump of snow that tends to build in the parking lane along the road. I literally couldn't park on the side of the road. My car wouldn't make it into the spot. My wife has had WS60's on her car, and that thing can go ANYWHERE, so this winter, when I had to drive on snow covered roads in my car and had virtually no traction in a few steering and braking situations, I knew it was time to bite the bullet and buy some winter tires. I had heard that the WS60's wear quickly, and while that may be true, I've been satisfied with the rate of wear on those tires. Hearing that the WS80's should last longer is a good step. As far as grip, as with previous blizzaks, these things completely transform the vehicle. They actually do grip ice, they're unbelievable in any type of snow, and in my car, I'm never facing a situation where being unable to cancel traction control causes me any issue. The tires are relatively quiet. I'll have to see how they affect mileage overall, but they didn't seem to have a noticeable affect in the initial few hundred kilometres that I've used them. I've rated these as 4 stars for durability only because I don't know, but I don't expect them to be 5 stars. I rated them 3 stars for value because they're very expensive. If you just need basic snow tires, and you don't have top notch expectations, there are probably better values. Bridgestone seems to sell every WS80 that they make, so it's tough to find a deal (although I was able to negotiate a better price with my dealer, despite there being no other stock in any local competitive shop). Buy these if safety really matters to you. All the fancy traction, stability, and other electronic systems are completely useless without some level of grip. These tires take an ordinary two wheel drive car, and allow you to drive in absolutely any condition, and be safe. If that matters to you, buy these. If you're worried about wear, you may want to do what I do, don't put the winter tires on at the first scent of snow. If you can make it through the first snowfall of the season without having to drive in a storm, or by driving on fully plowed roads, you can often go another month before you need to swap your all season's for winter tires. Once winter hits, you want these on. They're amazing.

    Game Changer!
I was ready to sell my car due to extremely poor performance during Michigan winters. In desperation I decided to try Blizzak WS-80's on all four wheels. We've had several days of heavy snow already and I was absolutely amazed at the difference in handling, stopping ability, and cornering. Traction control and ABS hardly ever kick in, except when I'm a bit heavy on the gas pedal. Excellent value and great price. I will keep my beloved land yacht now!

    Great on Minnesota roads!
I am very impressed with these tires! As anyone who drives on the Minnesota winter roads knows that the winter season presents the most harsh conditions, these tires take away the "white knuckle" fear of the drive. My ride is a now a world away from the stress and scare of not having traction and I smile and thank the Blizzak as I pass cars and trucks in the ditch!!! Bridgestone Blizzak is a must have.

    Blizzak really performs
I was skeptical that winter tires could really make a difference on Michigan roads during winter. I am so impressed with their performance on my Camaro. Before installing these tires my traction control kicked on with just a dusting of snow. With my new Blizzaks the traction control rarely comes on and my car responds better than ever in winter conditions. I would highly recommend investing in a set of these tires for any rear wheel performance car. Thanks Bridgestone!! Michele Z., Michigan
