Just what we needed
We were looking for a gate for our 8lb chihuahua. He had previously jumped over a shorter gate so this extra tall one did the trick! The little door is super convenient and the overall design of the gate is so sturdy and easy to use. We love it!

Great for short-term use
After my newly-adopted dachshund escaped from 3 other gates, this one finally seemed to be the answer. It worked very successfully for about 3 weeks, then all of a sudden, one piece came loose from another, and it no longer worked. Not sure if we got a defective gate or what, but I am very upset that I am now looking for ANOTHER gate!!

    Not a Gate for Humans
    The name of this product is misleading. Except for that little door at the bottom right corner, this is a barrier, not a gate. You install, it doesn't go anywhere. It's not a swing "gate": humans can't open it.

    Needs modifications
    Since this thing just pressure fits in the door frame with rubber feet, a hard shove will dislodge it. I solved this by screwing in plastic pieces to the wall meant to hold shower curtain rods up. The second issue was the pet door was much too big- my 55lb lab was easily able to army crawl right through the pet door. I fixed this issue by cutting one of the bars off of the pet door with a dremel, grinding down the sharp edges, and covering them with duct tape. With the pet door closed the gap is just big enough for the cats to get through. Even with these modifications the door is still too tall to step over and it takes too long to open and reset every time you need to enter/exit.

    Doesn't have tension and falls over easy.
    The metal is nice, the appearance is nice but there's no way to wedge it in the doorway. When I tightened it, it still fell over. Also it's too heavy.

    Not a good choice!!
    Quality of the metal this gate is made of is a very thin construction and will now stop a dog the size of the one in the picture.... maybe is a little poodle, but nothing over a very small dogs size, which defeats the whole purpose. Also, to make it more secure and/or stable I now have to try and find a way to mount it on my own so that I may (being the key word) get to use it till I can find something of real quality. Only thing I ever purchased from Hayneedle and probably will be the only thing I do....

    great gate!!
    Excellent pet gate! I have a 120 pound German Shepard and needed something tall enough that she could not jump over. This gate is perfect height, and easy to use. Well worth the money!

    I love that it is tall enough my dog can't get over but I wish it was built with a door the swung open for people to go through. So I didn't have to try and climb over it (since I'm short) or undo the lock to take it down.

    I ordered 5 or more Dream Baby extra tall gates from Walmart. I liked them very much. They were for average width doors. When I decided to add a gate to a door that measured wider than those gates, I ordered one of these. I was disappointed and took it back. IT was not the quality of the Dream Baby and also hard to install. It was too short in height.

    Great product at a great price
    I bought two of these gates to contain my Chocolate Lab pup. Not only is it durable(chew proof), it is very easy to install, and makes a very sturdy, extremely tight barrier.
