Coleman 6-person Instant Tent - Best Tent Ever.
This tent is excellent. I had the larger version and downsized after 5 years. This tent goes up in less than a minute as advertised. It rained the first night I had it up and was completely dry inside. I would recommend the extra fly in case you need to get in or out during rain. Takedown was just as easy as setup. The bag is big enough to easily fit the tent in once you open and then try to re-pack the tent. I would consider this the best tent I have ever had and I have been a Scout leader camping for 14 years.

It Can't be worse
On the first day with the tent, in a light rain lasting an hour, it simply FILLED WITH WATER, the fabrics were soaked and water dripping inside the tent, I'm from Brazil and I'm disappointed with -“the quality that the brand offers this way. I can't believe I was fooled by the YouTube videos that speak well of this crap.

    Love this cabin tent!
I am in love with this spacious cabin tent! The set up is amazingly easy. The only part that I have trouble with is getting it back in the bag, that takes a bit of practice.

Even a LOL can do it!
The engineering of this tent is absolutely amazing. I am a little (5'1") old (77) lady, and I was able to put it up by myself in about 3 minutes. Taking it down took about the same time. Wonderful. Thank you!

    Great Concept - Flawed Performance
I really wanted to love this tent. The convenience of popping it up was great, and it was what I was looking for in terms of not having open air given that we were camping with overnight lows in the 40s. I've also been a fan of Coleman tents given their foundation flooring is tarp and not tent material like many other tents. My biggest complaint was that this tent is not waterproof nor even water resistant. I ahd read of others having the same complaint of the tent leaking, but I thought I'd give the tent a shot. Sadly, the overnight dew was enough to sleep through the tent. The interior walls were saturated, and it was enough that it left small puddles of water on the floor. I would hate to think what results an actual rain shower or storm would yield as I doubt it would keep you dry even with a rainfly (which I also purchased and used by the way). Given that the tent is advertised as "weather tech" printed on the outside front of the tent, I would have hoped this included water resistance at the very least. Not sure what this specific "tech" applies to. Needless to say, I was rather disappointed in the lack of performance of this tent and it's inability to keep us completely dry.

    I LOVE THIS TENT
It seems only fair, since I gave a scathing review to the Longs Peak Easy Pitch 6-person Dome tent, that I should also review the InstantUp Cabin Tent. I have used my InstantUp since 2015 when I took it out for an almost 3 month fire assignment. The ICP (fire camp) was in the coldest possible location (almost 30 miles by road from the fire itself) and it rained numerous times, the wind blew, taking out 2/3rds of the other tents in camp, and for all but the first week on the fire, nights went below 28 degrees F. I was happy and snug in my 6-person InstantUp Cabin tent, especially after I got myself a Little Heater Buddy to warm up the room. The tent snugs up so well that I leave the door zipper cracked, and the vent open on the top so the safety feature on the Heater Buddy won't shut it off. The tent truly is an InstantUp. One Girl set up in ten minutes. There are zippered windows on four sides, plus top vents, so you can open up when it's hot, & close it up tight when it's cold or rainy. I always set it up from the beginning with the rain fly, and I tie it down with extra tent pegs for the rain fly. I've never staked & tied down the extra ties that come on the tent itself, I just use the ones on the rain fly. It did not leak in heavy rain, as long as I kept all my gear away from touching the tent wall while it was raining. I use a tarp underneath it, and I take rugs for the floor, as well as a large cot to sleep on, under which I store all my gear in tubs. I have my Mr. Heater Buddy for cold mornings, or to warm everything up as I get into bed at night. I can use my solar powered lights because the cord to the collector can be threaded out through the top vent, which doesn't leak because it's under the rain fly. It's October of 2020. We just got off a 30 day fire assignment in September & October in Idaho. It was hot in the beginning, and then cold. I was happy. But the door zipper seam pulled loose from the tent at the top corner, and I will have to find someone to repair that before I can use the tent again. It's the only problem I've had with the Instant Up in 6 years of use on Wildfire assignments.

    Good but small and leaks
It is smaller than I anticipated. For a 6 person tent they must all be tiny persons. Two queen mattresses pretty much take up the whole floor. Buy the optional rain fly direct from Coleman and use a tarp over the top until Coleman finally ships yours. The roof vents are a nice touch in warm weather but leak when it rains. But it goes up and down really quickly and stores in the provided bag. To compress out all the air for storage, leave the roof vents open and the zipper across the bottom of the door unzipped. The vertical zipper has a problem making it around the upper corner of the door if the tent is securely anchored. Try to use the door with just opening the bottom zipper and using the vertical to just below the upper corner.

    Big Tent, Small Price
Often it costs more to stay in a hotel one night than it does to buy this tent, which we intend to use for years to come (but not at a hotel!) The 6-person is very large inside, with plenty of headroom for my 6'2" husband, plus extra for that handy overhead tent light I forgot to buy (the one held on by magnets - though there is a hook in the center of the tent to hang some other type of light or fan). This is one of the only car-camping tents we found that had inside zip-up window covers, so you could have privacy without using a rainfly. We also bought the rainfly and extra stakes for safety. The plastic flooring is rather crispy sounding as you roll it up. Hopefully it lasts. An extra set of compression straps would help push the air out of the tent after you rolled it up (very airtight, so leave some windows unzipped). There are "compression" straps attached to the outside of the carrying bag, so not helpful to reduce the size of the tent to get it into the bag. Once stuffed back into the bag, the tent was a little too long to fit sideways in the back of our Ford Escape or the standard sized roof top cargo carrier, but it does fit at an angle.

    Love this tent!
Love this tent, particularly for how easy it is to set up and take down. Saves many hours of frustration! It's very roomy and the height allows us to walk around inside without bending over. We also love the big windows, allowing us to really enjoy the outdoor experience. The only two things I would change would be to 1) include a rainfly for peace of mind and so the inside doesn't get so humid when it rains (the windows have to be completely closed), and 2) have the zippered door closure be one continuous zipper instead of two separate ones - where they meet at the bottom corner can allow insects to crawl in.

    Great tent!!!!!
My husband and I do a lot of camping. I have put up and taken down many different tents in all shapes and sizes. The Coleman Instant Tent is the last tent I will ever use. Goes up in a few seconds and comes down in about the same time. I used my tent 2 weeks ago and did not have any problems with it whatsoever. It was a cold night (around 38) and we slept fine and stayed surprisingly warm. I would recommend this tent to anyone who is tired of all you have to go through to put up and take down a tent. This one is amazing. The only negative I can think of is that like most tents the amount of people it will sleep is based on being on the ground in a sleeping bag so if this is the case it will sleep 6 very close together. If you are like us and use an air mattress. It will hold a queen air mattress and a twin air mattress with enough room to get in and out of the tent.
