Don't expect this game to be easy...
When I purchased this game and got started, I was killed immediately. Went back to the beginning. I got about half way through the first level, was killed again, and was sent back to the beginning. So I got on the internet and read about it. This is how it works, for those of you complaining that it's "too hard": When you die in a level, you lose all the demon souls you've collected. BUT, as long as you make it back to where you died, you'll see your "mark" and you can get them back. The more you play the more you like it. I read where this game is not open world and the controls are too hard. This game was intentionally made like the original, except for breathtaking graphics. As someone who helped me (yes, there's help out there for people like me who had never played a Souls game, i.e. Reddit) put it: it's almost the identical game with a beautiful makeover. I won't lie, I was not very good at this game when I started. I couldn't make it through the first level. I went on Reddit and posted a rant about how unfair this game is and how infuriating. There were some responses that were sarcastic, but there were more that were encouragement and even some offering to help and tell me what I was doing wrong. A guy joined me on level one and watched my technique. He took his time, gave me some tips, and even dropped me a better shield than what I had. One of the other complaints I saw was that your equipment "wears out" and has to be replaced. When you clear a level, you return to a place where there's a blacksmith. He charges pocket change to keep your weapons in perfect shape. I've never had a weapon break, and you can carry a backup. It is true that this game is not open world. But you're not limited to linear movement. When I first started, I got lost several times trying to find my destination. So it's not like the original Mario Brothers. There's plenty to love about this game once you get the hang of it. For those hard-core gamers, each New Game gets more difficult all the way up through game number 5, which I just completed. You can Platinum the game with three playthroughs, and most people stop there. My final analysis: this game will frustrate you, sometimes make you want to throw your controller, but on the other hand, when you finally overcome something that you've been banging your head against, it's very gratifying. The graphics will amaze you. Bluepoint did an outstanding job.

Don't waste your money.
This game is terrible aside from the graphics. The controls and game mechanics are incredibly bad. The levels are on "rails" (meaning it is not open world) and there is no difficulty level. Incredibly frustrating to repeat the same level over and over with the same exact enemies and no way to upgrade etc until you just make it through. This would be a good free game on PS or Now. Definitely not worth $40 . Please watch a YouTube video before you waste your money.

Ignore bad ratings by people used to easy games.
Anyone giving any of the Souls games in the series a bad rating due to how hard the games are should have their reviews removed. It is no secret that you play the Souls line of games because they present a challenge you won't find anywhere else. There's no hand holding. There's no difficulty setting to lower so you feel powerful. There is a steep learning curve, and you're going to die. A LOT. But, you learn from your mistakes, you plan the usage of your items, you weigh the risk versus the reward of trying to get to your items after dying. Sometimes it's best to leave them be and begin a new. That's what makes these games so good. You're not going to instantly be the biggest, baddest there is. But when you finally bet that boss that's been giving you so much trouble, the sense of accomplishment is overwhelming.

    Souls game
Shipped fast. Arrived fast. Good packaging. My only complaint is that my package looked like someone had nicked the front of it with a box cutter or something. Not any damage to the game. But the case was.

    Hardest Game
Game has no difficulty level so it's hard all the way around. When you die you have to start all over. Your gear and weapons deteriorate so you have to upgrade them and etc.
