Since dragons aren't real and he's a talking one at that, the book is a fantasy. It is also an early chapter book. The stories have great examples on conflict, with lots of conflict and action through each chapter.

This book includes two...
This book includes two stories, two in which dragon tries to be scary, initially fails, but then manages, and one in which dragon isn't trying to be scary, but scares himself. In the first story dragon can't get a big pumpkin, but he scares his friends (who are initially laughing at him) with six little ones. In the next his friends are laughing at his costume, until a pumkin falls on his head and they think he's a monster. In the third, he scares himself- with the growling of his empty stomach!
