    filters only filter till they fill up then your car has a bypass valve to let oil flow, buying the best isnt always the best, fram works fine I have over 300,000 miles on 2 cars with fram..use Mobil 1 full synth too" change your filter not your oil. 3,000 miles oil 9,000 miles..

    As I'm using Mobil 1 oil, I need a "better grade" filter to ensure my oil will be ok up to 7,000 miles. I could go longer, but with less driving now, and shorter trips, I really need to change the oil. Short trips are especially hard on engines, as the motor doesn't get a chance to get up to operating temperature. A cold engine is less efficient, burns more fuel and likely has more deposits. Short trips also contribute to moisture build-up inside the engine and oil. Moisture reacts and can acidify, causing wear and etching and degrade the viscosity. So, using a good, high performance filter, like Frams' Extra Guard will help remove dirt that can build up and create sludge. I'm just a Shade Tree mechanic and have been changing my own oil since I started driving about 46 years ago. I've read a fair amount about oil, filters, change frequency, etc. and feel confident to recommend Frams' filters for any application, other than say, aviation. Although they probably are OK there too. Lubricate the entire rubber gasket on the connecting side (top of filter) with a small amount of fresh oil before installation. Make sure that the old rubber filter gasket did not come off and adhere to the contact point of the vehicle, before installing a new filter. They sometimes stick to metal. Just check the old filter to make sure it is still on it. Tighten hand tight! Do not tighten with an oil filter wrench as you may have problems later getting it off. Watch a youtube video or two if you are new to this. Do NOT overfill with oil. Add just the right amount, no more. Keep an eye on your oil level and check it often. Never let it get LOW. Walmart offers these at a great price, so I usually order several. Thanks Walmart! I would recommend this filter and would buy it again.     The basic Fram filters are the best, I change my oil frequently so this filter works well, no need to buy expensive filters. The top grip makes installation easy, alway only tighten by hand, no tools needed
