Durable - Well Made - Good Feeling Grips - Heaver Paddles - Two Paddles - Two Balls
The Pickleball-X Performance pickleball paddle set are well made with a nice sturdy edge cover and great feeling handle. The cross section is extremely thin in comparison to a composite type paddle. (see photo) The surfaces are painted. Whatever was used to paint the set looks good, but it isn't very durable. The paint scratches off easily and I don't expect it to last for long. This is my reason for only giving it 4 stars. The paddles play well. I expect some folks would complain about the weight. They weigh in at 12 oz each. My composite is 8.6 oz. However, they are durable and will hold up well to rough use. This is the reason we have them as our standby paddles at our group for people who forget to bring their own. They are a little noisier compared to my composite paddles, but not so much that it is an issue. This set comes with two paddles and a couple of balls.

Great starter to introduce you to the game.
If you want to start pickleballing (you do!) then this will get you going. Two paddles, 2 balls. All you need is a small area (a flat driveway will do, but a flat bit of lawn will be much more forgiving to your knees!) and an accomplice. Then let the games begin! The paddles are okay, but there are much better out there. For simple fun games, or to see if the sport is for you, then this is perfect! Have fun, it's an enjoyable sport, and this set contains all you need to get going

    Fantastic Deal
I never discovered Pickleball til I was near 50 years old. I moved to St George, Utah where it has become pretty much the biggest sport in town, and heard it discussed over and over, along with radio commercials about building your own courts etc. and finally asked. It sounded kinda silly to be honest, but after playing it just one time, I was HOOKED. Challenging and fun (unless it's windy, then its darn near impossible to play) I bought my own paddle (then eventually I got several of them) and I've never looked back. I prefer lighter weight paddles and these are strong, but quite light-weight so they make for fun play and I love the fact that you they came with a couple balls, too. The ONLY thing I don't like about Pickleball is how the paddles are so damned expensive! The cheapest I could find in town was $45 for a solid wood (heavy) paddle--but I gladly paid it. This set is under $40 and you get not just one, BUT TWO paddles! What a fantastic deal! I also appreciated the fact they were different colors, too. If you are considering going the Pickleball route (and I would highly recommend that you DO) I say this is a fantastic place to start, not to mention economical, too. GREAT Buy.

    An Entry Level Set.
Pickleball, I hadn't heard of it until a short while ago and then had the opportunity to try this paddle and ball combination. The paddles, though, are not lightweight and each is about as heavy as my paddle ball racquet. Not bad, at all, for a beginning player, but will affect the play as one's game improves. However, this is a great backyard sport and fun to compete with my boys. But I've only had the opportunity to use it in play a minimal amount of time so am unable to attest to how well it will hold up. After a bit of practice, I intend giving this set up to my kids and purchase better quality for myself. That'll give me an edge, I hope.

    Decent starter set
Good little set. Better than wood, but not really high end paddles. These paddles are a bit smaller and a bit heavier than a high quality honeycomb style paddles, but are a significant improvement over wood. Good mid-grade equipment. The balls are nice and have a crisp bounce to them. Smaller wholes make these good balls for windy days, although technically, green usually indicates indoor balls.

great sturdy paddles that should live up to abuse!
These are the first metal paddles I've used and they definitely have a different feel. They're heavier than the composite ones I am used to using, but I feel like they can take some more abuse. The weight and stiff structure hits the balls very solidly. I'm going to keep using my composite one, because I like the weight. But I also play with teens at my church. The cheap wood paddles we had fall apart way too easily, but these metal ones should really last. The price is pretty good for two paddles and they look fancy. The graphic print is going to scratch off easily, but I don't think that will affect gameplay. I think the teens will really enjoy using these!

A great set of paddles and balls for those getting started with pickelball.
This collection includes two aluminum Challenger paddles, each of which sells separately for about $19 each. You also get two of the 40-hole balls, which sell for about $10. Thus, at the current price, you are saving about $5. If you are just getting started with pickleball this racket is a good choice. But know that it is one of the heavier paddles, and for some it may be too heavy. I prefer the X-finity paddle, which is also made by Franklin, and is a medium weight aluminum paddle. Franklin also makes the X-charge paddle, which is one of the most popular paddles currently available and is also their lightest and most expensive (one paddle costs more than this set). However, the Challenger paddles in this set are a great way to start, and do provide a fairly large sweet spot which is an advantage for beginners.
