Super value for hardwood outdoor chairs
At first, it seemed too good to be true. Two hardwood armchairs for under $50 each? They look nice enough. Was there an unknown problem? The package they came in was quite heavy. Probably about 40 pounds. Upon removing the pieces, they look good. The dark red meranti wood felt dense and able to survive in the rough outdoor environment. It took 10 minutes each to assemble the chairs with the included hex wrench and a nifty plastic doodad to hold the round nuts while you thread in the screws. While not needed, I used my power impact wrench to finalize the tightening. Be sure to use a light touch on this. One chair had a damaged joint, as it appears to be a misfit or lack of glue. Anyway, an attempt to put a brad into the joint to stabilize it resulted in a splintering and questionable durability. I guess for the QA department, it was “good enuf”.
The cushions just tie on but look too thin. They work fine. It just rained and no water penetrated the cushions but did seem to absorb into the wood. The instructions recommend yearly oiling with teak oil. The wood is not teak but feels the same. Hopefully they are not deforesting Malaysia to supply us with cheap chairs. They are plenty comfortable but would look nicer with thicker cushion, which I think you can readily purchase. Despite the lack of the overstuffed look, they are miles ahead of our plastic stacking chairs, which are going into the trash. These chairs, however, do not stack, so you need more room. Although yearly refinishing doesn't sound too onerous, it's just another chore compared to plastic, aluminum, or wrought iron chairs, which require no yearly maintenance. Just something to consider. Otherwise, these are a great value!

The worst chairs I've ever seen.
I can't believe how awful these chairs were. Not sanded, rough, various colors, stained. It was jaw-dropping how terrible these truly were- I can't understand how or why they put them in a box to sell

5.00 out of 5 stars reviewVerified Purchaser05/17/2020Quality and ValueIm very pleased with these beautiful chairs. The quality is great and putting them together was fairly simple. Id say the only downside are the cushions, you'll definitely need to get better ones as these are paper thin (already ordered a set elsewhere). The chairs looked so great I didn't even want to put them outside!keia

5.00 out of 5 stars reviewVerified Purchaser02/06/2019Easy Set upI set this set up by myself, and it was easy to set up once I got the pieces in order. Be careful when you open the box, as one set of screws came open and were scattered among the box. I almost discarded one screw because of it. It did have everything needed to assemble each chair, though. This furniture is great, though. It looks nice outside. I have left it in the rain and had no issues with it. The stain hasn't rubbed off on the cushions or anything yet. We are very pleased with this set and can't wait to get the table and bench to go with it!lexinifo

5.00 out of 5 stars reviewVerified Purchaser01/21/2019Love these chairs!I am absolutely in love with the Furinno Tioman Teak Hardwood Outdoor Armchairs. They come in a set of to both with cushions. The look and feel of these chairs remind me of a beach cottage. You have to assemble them so make sure you have someone helping you. It's rather simple to put them together but you will need help by having someone hold the pieces while you place the screws in. The hardware was scattered through out the box but I counted them and they were all there. I am guessing the hardware packages broke lose at some point. It comes with everything you need including 2 allen wrenches and and 2 plastic type screwdrivers that I only used to make sure the piece that the screw goes in was straight. The cushions are not that thick but are comfortable enough to sit on. They are made with a material that is easy to clean and it give the chairs a nice look. The wood itself is sort of rough texture like it wasn't completely sanded but it isn't bad enough to give you splinters. The wood is treated with teak oil and it is suggested that you treat it once a year to help maintain the woods durability to the elements. These chairs will look great on your patio, deck or porch. Overall, I am very happy with these chairs and I love the look of them. I hope to get the table to match!kesa76

4.00 out of 5 stars reviewVerified Purchaser01/20/2019Sturdy and attractive set of chairsThe Furinno Tioman set of two armchairs came with instructions, cushions and all the tools required for assembly. It was a bit frustrating when I read the instructions, because there were no steps provided. The diagram showing where the screws went was clearly provided and the number of parts and what they looked like was clearly provided. That is enough for some people, but I had to study the drawing a bit, because I like to follow steps. It took me a few extra minutes, but once I got past that, it was fairly straightforward. The cushions for the chairs are thin, but they do have two strings to tie them to the chair, and the strings are sturdy and long enough to stay tied. The wood is hardwood that has been treated with teak oil, and it is suggested that you treat with a suitable wood oil at least once a year. If you do not treat it, the wood will weather to a silver grey. I was surprised that the wood was not more finished and smooth to the touch. It is a bit rough almost as if it needed some additional sanding, but not too rough. That may give it a more outdoor feel, but I would have preferred the wood to be smoother, especially on the arms of the chair. Although this is suitable for outdoor use, it is recommended to cover it during the winter and during bad weather and store in a cool, dry place to prevent mold growth. It is suggested that regular cleaning will help prevent mildew build-up and discoloration. Overall, these are attractive and very sturdy armchairs, but require some general maintenance.SuperAmmi
