We love it!
We are loving the Aladdin from Genie. It is reliable and fairly easy to install; however, follow the written directions rather than the video link that's given online. The rules are easy to set up, and the app has been spot on. The app tells us every time the door is open and closed even when we're at work. Also, programming the Aladdin to automatically close garage door if we forget to close it, gives us peace of mind.

Simple to set-up in the phone app. The printed instructions are OK but the online youtube videos resolved some wiring issues I had. It would be even better if it ran off the power to the current door controller, as finding a place to plug in the supplied controller is difficult.J. Callahan

5.00 out of 5 stars reviewVerified Purchaser12/11/2022Great UpgradeI have two 20 + year old Genie Intellicode screw drive openers that continue to perform as designed and wanted to upgrade the openers to the 21st century with WI-FI control and features. I simply removed the two door bell switches and wired the Aladdin connect in their place and wall mounted. Toughest part was adding a 120V outlet just above where the opener controller mounted on the wall. Luckily I was able to tap into a double gang light switch very near and add the outlet in a convenient spot. Highly recommend, love the notifications, the ability to control anywhere in the world with internet and set rules like if a door is open after 10 pm, auto close. Had to purchase an extra door sensor for the 2nd door but mounting those was a breeze.JCBurg

I followed the installation video and somehow got lost after the registration step – so I missed the Wi-Fi configuration 1st time through. But found the alternate web page route in the FAQ (maybe that needs more exposure), also took me a while to discover the Wi-Fi button on the device. I did contact the support site once to get guidance on the correct connections to my 2024 opener units – quick response and good advice. I did subsequently break a few fingernails enabling the wiring connections! Overall, a worthwhile investment – now our skis, bikes and kayaks are less subject to an accidently open garage door event.Unknown

If you have a type III Controller you need to purchase a Genie 38013R Dry Contact Control Adapter for series III Models - nothing is mentioned about this on the main page It's in the FAQ or online video (I learned this after installation and i could not make it work) 2. The design engineer needs to go to ergonomics school The connection wires are a pain to hook up into the modules You have to push tiny tabs down while inserting the wires into the connection holes inside a small compartment on the back of the unit Connecting wires to the 38013R is even more difficultDavid

I had a slight problem with the Wifi picking up the strongest signal in my room, so I did have to move the unit next to my wifi router and then it worked fine on the setup. There does need to be a choice for wifi networks, I have 2 different 2,4Ghz networks and I had to go with the one the unit chose. With all that being said, as soon as I installed to app it worked flawlessly and has for a month now. I peared it with a 12+ year old Genie 2 plus.Jimmz
