    Great set of books.

    Books are always better than the films!
    We love these books, which are now a replacement for those we lost in a house fire. I love they are boxed together (so as to keep them together) and that they were well packaged. I do not understand why the delivery van does not press the doorbell to alert me to the fact they are there? Otherwise we are enjoying the reading of them as we travel. :)

    Ink tends to smudge
    This set of books looks nice displayed on a shelf, but heaven forbid you actually try to read any of them. The ink will smudge if you touch the text even briefly, and since the margins are so narrow, there's no way to comfortably hold the book without damaging it. These editions also omit all of Tolkein's illustrations except for the maps, but even then, the books are so small that the writing on the maps is almost unreadable. If you really want to read The Lord of the Rings, you're better off spending a bit more on hardcover editions to get books that can withstand being handled.

    Just what I wanted....
    My husband ordered this for my birthday and other than him paying for two day and it taking 4 (it snowed) everything was great, I'm halfway through the Hobbit now.
