Walmart branded!
I do not like the Walmart branding, it makes it feel cheap and sold out. I buy an ereader to read books not to see your advertising.

    Overall beautiful.
I am very happy with this reader. This is the 4-th I bought, 3 for the family, one as a present. This particular kobo clara has a very good screen resolution and pretty good memory size. All of them have the best software I have seen on ereader so far especially if you collect books on ereader. Also battery life is great. All my kobos are light-weight (I normally do not use covers). One thing I did not like was redesigned power switch: a large one on the back I liked much better.

Nice little e reader for a good price
Nice little e reader. Trying to be less Amazoncentric , I have been using the Kobo app on my phone and wanted something a little bigger for leisure reading at home or beach. Have had it a few weeks now and I am pleased with my purchase. It is small, light, holds lots of books, easy to download, has backlight. I also have a Kindle paperwhite, and at half the price, this Kobo Clara is comparable in size and ease of use. Paperwhite is waterproof and has a few more options but the Kobo is more than adequate. I'm happy with my Kobo Clara and do recommend it.

    Better than we expected.
We did the usual search for on-line reviews of e-readers and settled on this because its specs were clearly good enough to work with, and in some measure because we are accustomed to using our local library and preferred not having Amazon as a filter on that, nor did we want to deal with Amazon's ads. We liked this device so much we bought a second. The set-up is a little clunky, but the reading experience makes up for that.

    Perfect!
I upgraded to this reader from a very old Sony PRS reader. I wanted something that was more or less functionally the same, just with some more modern features. This was it, perfectly. It has the same size screen although the device itself is smaller, sleeker and lighter. The e-Ink screen is of great quality, exactly what I hoped - and I'm even impressed with the lighting. I didn't initially want a screen that lit up, the point of this device for me is to take some time away from looking at bright screens on other gadgets (and the lighting of course drains battery - the point of an e-reader is the exceptionally long battery life.) So I found that if you barely turn the light on (say 15%) it adds just a little something that makes the text on page appear very crisp and legible under normal ambient lighting, but it's not glowing or bright - and barely impacts your battery usage. I even appreciate how it can change the color temperature of the light at night, a feature I use on my other devices. The screen is also importantly very matte and not at all reflective - so you don't pick up any glare on the screen when you are using other lighting. I was also really impressed that it can connect to the local public library right over WiFi so I can borrow all the books I want at no cost. I knew that was possible, but surprised by how easy it was to navigate and borrow books all on the device itself. Recommend 100% for anyone that wants a fairly basic

    Perfect!
Was a gift for my girlfriends mother, who is 82 and loves it! Downing free books from the library serves her with great pleasure as she now has unlimited books to read at her leisure. We already own two of these and love them as well!

Unable to read Axis360 Library books - Returned
I have a Kindle and love it. I primarily read library eBooks. However my library in Florida stopped carrying Kindle books (said it was too expensive) and switched to Axis 360. Before I bought the Kobo, I read that I could convert the Axis360 books into an EPub format using Adobe Digital Elements (ADE). Then I could transfer it to my Kobo. I am a very experienced system engineer/software tester. After hours and hours of trying I was not able to make this work. The book would load onto the Kobo but I was unable to open it because "my device was not authorized." But it was. I methodically read ever "solution" by other ADE users. But nothing worked. Kobo may work with Overdrive books but my Florida library doesn't offer it.

It is easy remove the terrible Walmart branding
Great Device. Its very easy to remove the terrible Walmart logo on the sleep screen: Plug Kobo into computer Double click Kobo device to open Kobos files Double click the folder that says .kobo. Unhide hidden files (If you are on a Mac and dont see the .kobo folder, try hitting command shift . to reveal hidden folders) Inside the .kobo folder, open the file named affiliate.conf change affiliate=walmart to affiliate=kobo, then close out of the file and click ok to lock in your changes

    Xmas Gift with Walmart Logo
I just gave the Kobo to my daughter who is an avid reader for Xmas. She is looking forward to checking out digital books from the library. She is just starting to set it up, but hasn't used it yet for reading. I'll come back to update this review, but out of the box I'm knocking off a star because the e-reader in sleep mode shows the Walmart Rakuten logo. It's not like I got the Kobo for free or anything. If there's a way to eliminate the logo in settings or something I'd like to know.
