alot of great features! Not just a clock
I received the Little Hippo Mella alarm clock in the white color with nightlight and smiley face on the front. This alarm color has many different features include time, daily alarm, sound machine, nap timer, sleep trainer and night light. All the feature buttons are on the bottom of this machine so your child cant press them. It also has a lock and unlock feature with a toggle switch. However an older child would simply unlock it if they wanted. The top button called the “hat” is the snooze button. I do wish the actual time feature was a bit larger, however I realized that my 5 year old doesn't know time yet, so the color probably means more to him. A smiley face is displayed larger and the time is smaller at the bottom. This machine will take a small cr2032 battery or you can also plug it in. I did not put the battery in and I do not like it flashes battery constantly when you don't put battery it in. However it will still work fine without the battery backup. The alarm works like any other in that you can set your time. The top hat is the snooze button for 9 minutes. This unit also has three options for sound machine. One is white noise, second is water, and third is some kind of chiming music. I probably wont use this at home very much but I would love this feature on the road or at a new location. The sleep trainer option displays the “eyes closed” on the face on the screen. If you set it to 8pm-7am the eyes will be closed during that time. 30 minute before wake time it will display yellow which teaches your child to remain in their bed and play quietly until the unit wakes up and displays green on the light. The night light also has several different colors to choose from including green, blue, but they suggest yellow for all night sleep. You can also set any of the above features for a certain length of time or all night. So all around I think this little unit is packed with features! Great option for transitioning from crib to bed also. Great features and easy to use. Great product for toddlers learning time and beyond!

The melody isn't soothing at all
I might received a defective one not sure, since it was for free I can't really me and my son felt in love with the little face and how it blinks his eye every often with the minutes, my son choose the melody he liked better for the alarm, I set everything but it didn't work as expected. Instead the alarm wasn't nice and the lullaby sound terrible. Not soothing at all and I had to turn it off. My son still loves it but I can't really recomend a clock designed to teach and sooth.

    I love this cute sleep trainer! It has an adorable face that "sleeps" when it's time for bed. During the day the eyes are open and it even blinks. I love all the features. It's easy to program with straight forward control buttons on the bottom. It also has a switch to "lock" the settings and prevent little ones from tampering with it. There is a variety of light colors to choose for a night light. It also has a choice of white noise, ocean or lullaby sleep sounds. If I had to pick a "com" it would be that the light isn't dimable like the face is.

    Perfect for little ones!
    This is probably the most adorable alarm clock I have ever seen, and my daughter (who is five) absolutely loves it. It goes great in her room, but the simple design allows it to match just about any room decor. It's also a perfect size. Not so small as to be easily lost, but not so big that it takes up a lot of space. It has 5 color options to choose from as far as the nightlight goes, and several different options on the sound machine as well. I love that it has a nap option as well in addition to a basic alarm. This is great if you have a toddler who takes naps at the regular time at home. The cutest part is that the clocks little face matches what time it is. Her eyes will close when it it sleepy time, and then will open when it is time to wake up. If needed, the top of her head works as an alarm shut off just like any other clock. It's easy enough that even the kids can turn her off if needed, but all the buttons and controls are on the bottom, so they are out of sight of little explorers. Very cute nightlight / bedtime routine trainer.

    Cute and playful alarm for young children!
    This alarm clock is just so adorable. Love the lights, and the rubber grips on the feet so it doesnt slide around so easy. It plays music and also has the sound of the ocean for relaxing. My 2 year old loves to play with it. Unfortunately my 5 year old and my 2 year old have learned to unplug it from the back for cuddle and play time. Once unplugged, the battery just seems to save the time for about a day. It doesnt really succeed in helping me keep my children on a bedtime schedule. I was hoping since i work full time, this clock would ensure that my children would wake up on time with the nanny. It is adorable though. The little faces it makes are so cute. Im am happy the kids are getting trained to use a real alarm clock from this one. The eye's blink as each minute passes by.

    Waste of Money
    I think this clock is expecting too much of your child. Unless you have the best behaved child in the world, they are not going to listen to a clock telling them when it's time to get up. It is very cute in appearance, but impractical. It's somewhat different to set since it has a bunch of different settings including an alarm and a sound machine. It plugs in using a USB adapter which is very odd. The cord is also very short. I had to use an extension cord. I also did not like that the brightness of the screen can not be adjusted,only the glowing ring. The face is too bright at night. Don't waste your money on this product. Nice idea in concept but impractical in practice.

    My kids love This cute design and I love how it works perfectly as clock and also works as night light. I love the feature that it's clock, changes color for different meaning And also work as sound machine along with alarm clock. Overall really liking it and loving features.

    This is a really cute little gadget. I wish I had it when my girls were younger. As it stands, I am not currently in need of a sleep trainer, but I certainly take advantage of the night light and sound machine options. My girls love the colors and enjoy the lullaby sound option. It also helps my five year old learn to tell time. But, because my girls share a room, I can't use the alarm clock, as it might wake my 2-year-old. But, once she begins school, the alarm clock will certainly be in play. Once you read through the instructions, setup is easy. I tried to get by without using the battery that is included. But, if you unplug it, all settings go back to the default. So, the battery is a must. It was a little hard getting the battery compartment open, because I didn't realize how hard you must push the battery key. Other than that, we really enjoy little Mella and her smiling face. We can keep the music and night light on all night…and we do.

    Too cute, many features, great starter alarm clock
    I have 3 kids ages 3, 7 and 13. The younger two are girls and are trying every day to be more independent but still need the security of a night light and love listening to music and sounds like lullabies. This MELLA Ready to Rise Children's Sleep Trainer, Alarm Clock, Night Light Sleep Sounds Machine is awesome. It has everything they could need. A soft glowing light, visible digital clock, with a cute smiley face. It also has a few choices for alarm sounds and white noises and a timer function that you can set so your kid can know when it is time to stay in bed and when it is ok to get up. We use this for nap/quiet time. My girls hate naps, but need them. So we set the alarm for quiet time and they read a book or lay there and eventually fall asleep. But I like that they can tell when it is time to get up and time to still be laying down. It will be green when it is time to get up. Plus it helps them tell time digitally. We are working on the analog version too but since most clocks nowadays are digital it is important for them to know those too. They love choosing the color and their sounds. What is cute is that it has the face and the eyes and it has little legs that keep it up. It stands pretty sturdy. Our legs are pink and my girls love it. They also love the shape and there is a curve at the top which they say is like a lil mohawk for the robot clock as they call it. This is really good for sleep training but also in my case to give my girls a reason to stay sleeping in their own room and so they feel more grown up with an alarm clock like mom. I definitely recommend for every child from baby, to school aged. So cute and multifunctional. I did get to try this for free through the Spark review program but the opinions here are based on my own experience.

    This alarm clock is exactly what it advertises on the box “parenting just got easier” we got the alarm clock in artic blue, and the color is nice and subtle. I have two little boys, and bedtime is admittedly my least favorite time of the day most days. That's because the kids fight bedtime, and they also tend to wake up earlier than I want them to on weekends, which is my only time to sleep in since I am a full time working mother as well. Then, this alarm clock came into my life! If even for a short period of the day, this alarm clock helps life a little easier, I'm all about it. the different colors and sounds it makes, along with the faces for the different “modes” really entertains my children. It helps them know when it's appropriate to go to sleep, wake up, and play. All of these settings are controlling by dear old mom and dad, so you know it's when YOU want them to get up, not when they so choose. Of course, it's not a cure all, but it does help in sleep training and I need all the help I can get. I highly recommend this product.
