Lodge Cast Iron cookware is great!
This 5 Qt. frying pan with lid is so versatile. It can be used for almost all your cooking needs indoors and outdoors. It comes to you already seasoned (baked in multi times with cooking oil coats) which is great. I started cooking right away after a quick hand wash and coating of Pam applied to the inside surfaces then wipe that down and transfer the residual oils to the outside surfaces. After just a few of these treatments after each hand wash the pan becomes more and more stick resistant. The main reason for me to purchase this pan is the fact that most other affordable frying pans available today warp when exposed to the cook tops heat and become bent permanently which makes cooking more difficult. These cast iron pans do not warp and Walmart offers this brand at a most reasonable price including tax and shipping. I do recommend. I liked mine so much I purchased another 10" fry pan and Dutch oven with lid that fits both items for my Mother and she said "It's just like what Grand Ma used to cook with and make all those great home style dishes". Get you some.

Nice BUT VERY HEAVY
The skillet is VERY HEAVY weighing in at 14 pounds with the lid on the scale. I haven't used it yet so can't attest to that but the weight seems like it's going to make it very difficult to manage. I understand that it's iron but it's a little too for having to maneuver hot food around in the kitchen.

Best Cast Iron Skillet I've used so far
I love this cast iron set. It's nice and smooth. I love that it has a cover because I have been using it as a Dutch oven for my roasts and it needs a tight cover to come out tender. I know it's pre-seasoned but I still washed it with hot water and kosher salt then did my first seasoning myself. There's great YouTube videos on how to do it and my preferred oil is flax seed oil. I've been using this skillet for the past couple of weeks and my meals have been so much better! By the way I also bought a second smaller cast iron skillet and the coating is awful. Very grainy. This skillet was perfect.

    Great Skillet
Im in love with my Lodge 5 Quart Deep Skillet. I also ordered the cover handles to help with moving the pot when hot. I could cook anything in this skillet and the lid is nice too. Its big and i can fry, cook, or bake with it.

10” cast iron skillet with cover
This skillet is large so it can be used as a Dutch oven to bake anything your little heart's desire! There are silicone handle protectors that can be purchased separately but is a must for lifting in and out or off the oven and stove, as it is very heavy. They aren't oven proof so don't leave them on when placing in the oven. Don't forget so season after every washing and make sure it is warmed up before putting a very light amount of oil of choice. If ya don't warm up the skillet, it will become sticky and will have to start from the beginning of the seasoning process. (I didn't know that and being my very first cast iron purchase, I'm still learning.)

    Perfect for fried chicken
Like so many, I grew up thinking my Mom's fried chicken was the best (and I still believe it). Now, it is up to me to carry on some of the traditional cooking styles that have gone by the wayside for so many. Knowing that cast iron was seemingly required for fried chicken, I decided to get this (most traditional) cooking apparatus. And it was the perfect choice. Coming preseasoned, I was able to have success on the first attempt. I found a great recipe and followed it closely. The pan made a couple of things easy. It is quite deep, and that proved good since I chose a 4-5 pound chicken. I cooked on an electric stove, and had no problems with the temperature, setting it once and never having to change it. I was proud of my first fried chicken, the Lodge pan went a long way in contributing to the great meal.

    Very Stimulating
I purchased this as a gift for a friend. The skillet has attractive lines with the sloped handle and I wanted to cook in it right away! The lid also fits the Lodge 12 inch skillet. One disappointment was the seam on the handle; it was a little porous. I regret not purchasing one for myself now because the price has risen substantially since August. My friend loves this chicken fryer and it is her favorite pan now. The photos depict the rough and porous handle while the fryer was still in the box. This condition is somewhat disappointing on an otherwise lovely piece.

    Lodge never disappoints
This is the third piece of Lodge cast iron cookware in my collection. Ive also got the 10.5 inch skillet and a dutch oven but needed something between the two for frying chicken and other things that dont require the depth of the dutch oven. I used the chicken fryer this weekend to cook up cabbage and make a simple boiled dinner and it worked out great. Cover fits tight and all the little teeth underneath allow the moisture to run off and stay in the food. Heats fast and even which is more than I can say for the piece of non-cast iron, non-stick cookware it replaced. I tried a cheaper cast iron piece made in China and it went right back to the store. The coating was rough and uneven and the weight just wasnt there. For something that will last a lifetime--possibly a few, the little extra in price for Lodge is well worth it.

    Great value in a skillet
This is a great skillet, I can fry about 5 lbs of potatoes and onions at a time. It is seasoned already, but it definitely needs a little more. I have several other Lodge products and like them all. The only reason I gave 4 stars instead of five is that there are a couple of rather deep pits in the casting. They probably won't affect the pan but to me they may get food stuck in them which in turn may spoil. I'm sure this won't sit long enough without use for that to happen.

    Cast Iron is best
The same lid that comes with this 12 inch fryer skillet, also fits the conventional 12 inch fry pan, which makes this item even more useful. Season it properly, don't turn the heat up too high, and cast iron like this is the best way to cook.

    fantastic!
This is a fantastic skillet! I wanted a 12 inch skillet to start with, but with the deeper side, it's so much easier to stir fry, grease and food don't fly everywhere on my counter! It came pre seasoned, and I always use a little oil, just to cover the bottom of the pan, it cooks so well, I wash with hot water, and scrub with the lodge logic scrubber, no soap and nothing abrasive really. The lid keeps the heat in, and has self basting tips, haven't tried it as a dutch oven, but sure it will work well. The size is just right, not too big and not too small. it's a bit heavy, but not unmanageable. It will last for years, thank you, Lodge Logic!
