Update to Coffee Table
Bought Gel Stain about 6 weeks ago to paint a Formica coffee table. It went on easy and was given 2 thin coats. After it was thoroughly dry 2 thin coats of satern polyurethane was applied. Finished job came out awesome. Only time will tell how well the gel stain adhered to the Formica as far as chipping goes.

One and done
Stain goes on very well and doesn't have much odor. I like that it really makes my wood pop. I like that I only have to put one coat on and let it dry for 45 mins and it's really shinny. Much better than the old school stain that also looked so matter.

    Easy to Use Nice Results
I made a mistake and painted a beautiful old end table grey. Before starting I read the instructions and first tried cleaning it well and just applying it over the grey. I didn't like that. So I tried sanding it all off to get a feel of what it would look like depending on how many coats of old paint and stain I took off. I think I found the perfect layer to stop on. The picture shows the different layers with one coat after 24 hours. I think when I do the whole piece I will do two coats to complete the look!

    Excellent wood stain
I have done several DIY projects for my house and I have always used the standard liquid Minwax wood stain. Today I used for the first time the Gel Stain and I regret that I have never used it before. The application is easier, using les quantity it covers more areas, is not as messy and the liquid one. The finish is shainy and smooth and the wood does not absorb ot as the liquid one. I have seen people that use an orbital polisher to apply it and the results is even better. Definitely I will never go back to the liquid standard wood stain. I recommend it for any type of wood job.

    Easy staining
I used this on Poplar wood. The stain was of course easy to apply with a brush. It took well to the wood. I did not use a wood conditioner. Another coat would probably make it a deeper, richer red/brown. I liked that this stain didn't need a second coat or sanding between coats. I could see the color immediately and it was the said color right from the start. No waiting around to see how dark it would dry. I would suggest putting on a wood conditioner before the stain. As you can see in the photos, part of the wood stained darker than expected. A wood conditioner would help tone this down and look more uniform. There is a slight sheen after applied. The directions recommend adding a protective coat to it. A flat protective polyurethane would make a nice finished, look.

    love this stain
Love this stain and have used it on multiple projects. Check out the decoration I made out of just some shims and nails. This went perfectly in my bathroom. The gel stain is a little cleaner and easier to handle...and I like that.

    Easy Application and Easy Coverage
We were extremely pleased with our Mineax Gel Stain. This stain applies with ease as the gel allows for a consistent and even application. The color we purchased covered our pine wood with the exact color we were looking for. This stain also covered a large area without using much of the stain We have used other stains that were not gel and this certainly was much easier to apply.

    Worked Great!
My cabinets look brand new! I have been wanting to upgrade our kitchen without spending tons of money. We have wonderful, solid wood cabinets but the color was out dated. I decided to sand them down and try the Minwax Gel Stain. The stain was easy to apply and went on well. The color looked like the swatch color and I was happy with how it turned out. The application was simple. The stain is also a little thicker so it is much easier to apply. It created less mess also. Our kitchen has an entire new look with just a quick, easy stain. We are very pleased.

    Gel Stain
I bought this month or so ago. Best paint for vinyl or fiberglass outside doors and window shutter. Easy and beautiful. Even leaves the wood grain on door. . Throw a mini wax clear coat on it. Looks new.
