Gorgeous Results!
I am working on a few projects and I need an oil-based stain (Varnish). Therefore, I decided to pick up Minwax Wood Finish Penetrating Stain in Early American 230. By the way, Minwax has over 30 colors to choose from. Since it's an oil-based stain, the wood will have a sharper and deeper look along the wood grain. It is recommended to use the stain on bare wood after sanding and removing all sawdust. I sanded the wood I was going to stain and cleaned off the sawdust. Before using the stain I applied Minwax Pre-Stain to improve the appearance of the wood. I waited 15 minutes to wipe away any excess Pre-Stain left on the wood. Hint: Need a well ventilated area not in direct sunlight. I made sure to mix the stain well and grabbed my paint brush for oil-based stains. Hint: Use a smaller container to hold the stain while you work. When applying the stain, move at a slow but steady pace following the wood grain. Now, we wait 5 to 15 minutes before wiping off the excess stain with an old rag. In two hours the stain will be dry. The longer the stain stays on wood the darker it will get. I was elated to see the pieces of wood I worked on matched exactly as the color on the container. My project has the appearance of natural wood. Also, this product is made in the U.S. with global materials by The Minwax Company. #KeppOnFinishing #FinishedWithMinwax #Minwax #Reesetishas2cents #reesetisha #HonestReviewer #DIYProjects @minwaxusa @reesetisha

My go to stain of choice-Provincial!
I've been a Minwax product user since the mid-80's when I took up woodworking as a hobby on my days off the job as a firefighter. My preferred stain is Provincial-nothing can beat its warm tones on the different species of wood I work with.

5.00 out of 5 stars reviewVerified Purchaser04/21/2023Great stainI have been using Minwax stain for almost 25 years. I love them. I sometimes do my own mixing to get that match or special stain color I'm looking for. There is literally infinite possibilities. When I was restoring damaged furniture for this church that had hurricane damage, I used several cans of red mahogany.Dave S

5.00 out of 5 stars reviewVerified Purchaser04/18/2023Guitar Sunburst Finish Repair with an Air BrushI repair damaged guitars for friends, and often need to fix or replace a sunburst color gradient around the edge of a guitar top. This requires me to match the lightest color in the center, and cause it to get gradually darker, until it matches the darkest color at the outside edge of the top. Minwax Wood Finish is perfect for this task. Perfect because it comes in a wide range of colors, and ALL of them can be mixed together without any problems. So I can spray a light color in the middle, then add a drop of the next darker color and spray again. Then another drop darker, and spray again. I mix the colors to match the original sunburst. When the sunburst colors look right, I let it dry for several days before I clear-coat it with lacquer. I use a Binks air brush at a high pressure to spray the Minwax colors. The high pressure allows me to get a gentle mist of color that just falls down onto the guitar top, with very little volume of stain. I practice the color gradient by spraying first onto a white sheet of paper. The low volume mist gives me good control of the color variations. See the two photos of my recent repair of a 1980 Epiphone Genesis guitar that had suffered a large hole in the top, and needed some engineering to strengthen the top from the inside. Minwax Wood Finish was the perfect finish to fix this classic guitar.Bob52
