Let's make a cup... or more
This is a machine which will let you redefine convenience. You can brew a cup or a carafe and the controls are all simple. I love looking at layered coffees, they just seem more special and they are really easy to accomplish with this ninja brewer. My assumption during this review is that you are looking at this product in comparison to a ‘single serving' unit brewer. If you are, you won't be disappointed. This is a drip style brewer but it has a few features that make it able to customize how and what you brew. Because you are using your own grounds, you can get a much better value or quality of coffee than the standard prepackaged single service cups can provide. If you use the permanent filter, you can reduce waste as well. Size selection: You can brew seven different volumes from a 4oz. specialty coffee, to various cup sizes (5oz, 11.5oz, 14oz, 18oz), to a half/ full carafe. Strength: One difference between ‘normal' and ‘strong' coffee is the brew time. The strong coffee takes longer because it adds the hot water more slowly which makes the brew noticeably darker. Depending on the coffee roast, I prefer the strong brew. It does have a different taste (fuller) but I like the thought that I got the most out of the grinds before I disposed of them. Another setting the Ninja has, is Iced. The iced setting will reduce the amount of water used because it needs to be stronger and has to account for the volume of ice in the cup. Brew time: The ninja takes slightly longer (about a half-minute) to brew than my other single serving brewer when brewing a single cup of coffee. However, the ninja takes less time to brew larger volumes. In addition, the customization that the Ninja provides exceeds the other comparable machines capabilities. Frothy milk: You can get frothy milk using the attached electric whisk. I like warming the milk first and adding my sweetener to it before frothing. I tried adding liquid flavoring to the milk but found that the oils made the foam break down quickly (less than a minute). For comparison, most of my foams last between 8-20 minutes. Other built-in features: There is an on machine measuring scoop which allows you the measure out the perfect volume of grounds while keeping the measuring spoon in a convenient location. There is a cup holder tray to help reduce splatter during brewing when using smaller mugs. The tray lets drips pass through and it quickly flips up to its storage location. The water tank is removable for easy cleaning/ filling. When you lift the brew basket out, it has a non-drip stopper that lets you empty the grounds with less mess. The permanent filter can be cleaned and reused or you can remove it and use a paper filter. The brew basket has a stop lever which can temporarily pause the brew cycle, if needed.

The product images above show a 12-cup carafe, although if you dig through enough reviews you see people saying it has a 10-cup capacity. Why is the truth on this so hard to find, and why are they lying about it?

    Nice set up
    I have bee using the Ninja with thermal carafe for a week now. It looks good and brews coffee quickly. Easy to clean. At first I was impressed with milk frother, but now not so much. You can easily over mix it and you loose the froth. It worked ok the first few days. Maybe I need to keep trying to see if it's me. Carafe does not hold coffee hot for more than 45 minutes.

    Ninja Coffee Brewer Is Great!
    We bought our brewer about a month ago. We had an earlier model, which loved to death. We looked at other manufacturers, but I kept going back to the Ninja. The reviews were great and it checked all our boxes. I love the added size options. I love, love the frother! The Ninja brews a tasty pot or cup every time. The larger thermal pot is perfect, especially when guests are here.

    Coffee made easy.
    With the Ninja Specialty coffee maker I can make different size cups as well as an entire pot of coffee depending on who is drinking coffee or the kind of coffee I want to make. The settings on the coffee maker allow me to easily choose what I am making. I can even make coffee over ice. Now this even includes a frother to get fancy. It comes with a scoop to help measure out your coffee and just really is a great way to make all the fun drinks from home. You do not even need to make sure you have filters since it comes with a washable one.

    A Masterpiece
    As I'm learning new things about my Ninja Specialty Coffee Maker with Thermal Carafe, it's becoming my favorite! I had just a regular coffee pot before this and now I can make different types of coffee. I can make just a cup to a whole carafe. It can make cappuccino to iced coffee like how cool is that?! I like that I have a choice and can make all my favorites right at home.

    Great coffee maker with some great features
    I previously had an older version of this ninja coffee maker that eventually needed to be replaced and I was excited to see all the updated features on this version that I did not have on my previous coffee maker. First, I am a huge fan of the stainless steel carafe as I have broke many glass ones previously. The filter section is impressive and includes a reusable filter that can be washed out or removed completely if you prefer to use your own paper filters. I do prefer a paper filter myself, as I feel like its less clean up, but its good to have the reusable filter if you run out and can't make it to the store. I love the built in holder for the measuring spoon, which the older version also didn't have, as well as the hideaway frother, which conveniently fits into its own little section when not in use. Another upgraded feature is the brew sizes which now includes an XL cup as well as an XL travel cup. All the appropriate coffee grind measurements are labeled on the included measuring spoon which takes the guesswork out of much coffee grounds to include. I found the machine to be very user friendly and was able to figure out the mechanics of it pretty much on my own. However they do include a very detailed instruction manual for anyone who needs a bit of guidance. Once the machine is plugged in you can set the time, which is lit at all times even when the coffee maker is not turned on. When you are ready to brew, just press the on button and turn the knob to whatever size coffee you want to make and then choose between classic or rich roast, iced coffee or specialty. My favorite feature is the "delay brew" which would be handy for anyone like myself who likes to have the coffee already ready when you roll out of bed in the morning. This is a great product and I'm happy to see that Ninja continues to add in wonderful features to their products over the years.

    I really wanted to like this coffee maker. I'm an avid coffee and espresso drinker and this coffee maker just didn't make the cut as far as taste. That's too bad because it's practical, easy to use and looks nice. PROS: looks very nice and modern, easy to use, allows you to place your cup for a single serve or to go (no need to dirty the carafe), stainless steel carafe is very nice, frother is very nice (but steamer would have been even better), easy set up, easy to use, programable CONS: i brewed almost all options the day after it arrived and they all tasted the same, even the “specialty” brew and the “iced” brew tasted the same. The “classic” and “rich” options brew very weak coffee even though I used strong espresso blend, all cups I brewed had a residual at the bottom (see picture), the full carafe is very small (only about 5-6 cups) making it not very practical for large gatherings. All in all this coffee maker is average and therefore very over priced.

    So simple to use with so many options!
    I bought this about a mont ago and have not been disappointed at all! The carafe stays nice and hot for hours. There are so many options to choose from for cup, travel mug, full pot or half pot. The best part is there is no need for filters or k-cups. The tool for frothing has been great to make homemade cappuccino as well! The tank for the water is good size also. I'm so happy I finally found the coffee machine I have been dreaming of!

    We absolutely love this coffee maker! Coffee is hot and delicious. The options of different sized pots/cups and brew strength is fantastic. Its very attractive and works well on our counter. It's definitely the best coffee maker we've ever owned!
