Great for small backyard birds and finches.
I wouldn't say this works with all seed blends like the description says. I have tried them all, and the bigger ones, even sunflower seeds, seem to clog it up. I use the Pennington Wild Finch blend and it works great. Also the perches are too short for bigger birds like cardinals but the small birds love it.
Squirrels don't get into the feeder, but they might shake some sunflower seeds out. Apparently not enough to be worth it, because they gave up after a while. I have had it hanging in my yard for almost 5 years and it's still in good shape, as seen in the photo.

Birds hate it
Though it's pretty, birds won't eat from it! I have 5 feeds in the garden. All the birds eat from the other 4 and leave this one completely alone. It's been out a week and still not used, so I'm going to empty the seeds out and take it back to the store today.

1.00 out of 5 stars reviewVerified Purchaser12/11/2021Birds will not use itWe used to have a feeder like this but the bears broke it. Anyway, we have been using mostly platform feeders for the past few years. I bought this feeder due to all the rain we have been had for several months. The feeder looks secure and it like it would not let the rain get into it as easily. It did keep the seed dry but the birds will not eat from it. The Chickadees would occasionally peck at it but did not seem get anything. The seed sat there for over a month. I don't blame the poor birds for not wanting to stick their heads in so far to look for a seed. The opening to the seed is very small and back too far. The feeder like this one that we used to have a few years ago did not have openings like this. Too bad we cannot find a decent feeder anymore. Look for someone who knows how to make them by hand here. There are still some individuals that make them.Sallytoo

2.00 out of 5 stars reviewVerified Purchaser07/22/2021Our birds don't like itLove the look, but that's it. Our birds are not eating out of it. We have a wide variety of birds, and many listed that should eat from this birdfeeder. It's been a waste of money for us.Jennifer

5.00 out of 5 stars reviewVerified Purchaser01/17/2021I love it so much I bought a second oneI love this feeder so much I bought a second one. It took several weeks for the birds to use start using it, but they did they were storming it thats why I got a second one. I tried finch seed that obviously was too big, I filled with thistle and waited. I hasn't clogged and easy to clean.CayD

5.00 out of 5 stars reviewVerified Purchaser11/14/2019Very Durable for 5 YearsBest feeder for keeping out squirrels. I've had this feeder for 5 years and it is very durable. Squirrels can't chew through the wire hanging cable or chew the metal seed ports. They also fall off... especially the large gray ones! Chipmunks can sometimes hang on long enough to get a mouthful, however. It's only for small birds. I have redpole, chickadees, goldfinches, nuthathes, titmouse, grosbeaks, and misc. sparrows. Blue jays just hang out below for droppings.sallygator

2.00 out of 5 stars reviewVerified Purchaser04/19/2019maybe squirrel proof and bird proof.the birds in my area have a hard time with this. they seldom feed here. it foils squirrels. i have other easy feeders which the birds maybe prefer, because the same food goes fast in the other feeders. will probably replace. seems well built and its attractive.pulsev22
