Seals AND Laminates - WOW!
I've been using this tape for many years, even before 3M sent me the sample of Scotch Heavy Duty Shipping Packaging Tape with Dispenser. It works wonderfully well to close up boxes and packages for shipping and storage. I like that I can write on it with permanent marker or ball-point pen. Postage labels adhere without difficulty. My most frequent use is for "laminating" prayer cards, recipe cards, art, and other items that I want to keep safe from continued handling and moisture. Much more cost-effective and easier to use than a laminating machine - portable, too! Can you tell that I really, really like this tape? WOW!

Don't Bother
Difficult to Use. To get the tape cutter to extend you have to press so hard on the actuating lever that the tool punches holes in the side of the box. Just reusing the plastic dispenser that comes with the packing tape worked much better. You would think 3M could design a better tool.

    Don't waste your precious time and valuable money.
    Worst tape gun ever! The plastic Scotch Heavy Duty rolls were constantly sticking to the roll of tape, with almost every cut. You then spent several minutes (tearing strips or giving up and moving to one of the other 4 in the pack (while someone else worked on the roll. So, I spent the money on this tape gun, big mistake!! It would come to a complete stop or would not start when trying to seal a packing box. It would stick to the red plastic part AND the blade guard. So, you have to stop and unstick and pull and cut off, wasting expensive tape! I never had an issue with tape guns at work! I got one there. It doesn't have a plastic section like Scotch and the blade guard is much smaller. (I have attached photos of the red Scotch brand and my work white one. Not a single problem!

    So hard to use, don't recommend
    This thing is not easy to use. Sadly I didn't read the reviews before buying because why would I need to, right? Well after using and feeling like an imbecile because I'm struggling to get it to cut the tape I come back to read the reviews. Good news is I don't feel so dumb anymore. Bad news is that I've got a lot more boxes to pack using this thing.

    Never purchase from here again for moving tape
    Tape didn't stick at all my boxes broke from the under bottom and some my belonging was damage . I order from Home Depot had any type of issues with there tape …. Smh

    Either Defective Or Design Issue
    Terrible! Can't believe this design. Maybe mine is defective. My husband was going to try to make it so the tape could glide without it getting stuck on the dispenser itself but I said heck with it and tossed it in the garbage!! Going back to using my old one (different brand) even though it's heavier for me..better than fighting with this one.

    Nonsensical design and inadequate instructions.
    If the objective was to prevent the user from taping anything, it's a smashing success! Its "safety" feature makes it challenging to get the teeth to properly cut tape, and there's a metal latch that seems to be designed to stop tape from being dispensed at all. Hilariously, the YouTube video instructions for this device elides this feature altogether, and a comment calling them out on it has more likes than the video itself. 0/5 stars, would not buy again

    Difficult to use
    This is difficult to use because of the safety feature that keeps the cutting blade retracted unless you pull the tape back juuuuuuuust right. I understand the benefit of safety features in general, but this one makes it nearly worthless. Almost every time i use it, i end up just getting scissors to cut the tape because i cant convince the blade to cut the tape. Or i end up pulling out way more tape than i need, in which case I still have to get the scissors to cut off the right amount. So overall, this isn't particularly useful. Im gonna have to look for something else.
