The for Dummies Version Mask Kit
Let me preface this review by saying, I don't sew. I have a sewing machine I bought years ago. I taught myself to thread it and to sew a semi-straight line. I get my sewing machine out about once a year to sew something that needs a wannabe straight line. When I saw this June Tailor, “Sew Your Own Reusable Mask Kit,” I thought, “Hmm. It looks like all I need to do is sew a straight line. I can kind of do that.” So, I ordered the kit and thought that if I mess these masks up, I'm not out that much money. I got out everything I needed (including an iron), I sat down, read the instructions, and thought, “Nope. Not even going to try following these directions.” They were beyond my capacity to stay focused on. So instead, I went to the June Tailor website the directions suggested I go to and watched the tutorial video. The instructions were easy to follow once I realized that what she considered the top of the fabric was the bottom for me because she was standing behind her table, not sitting in front of it. After each instruction she gave, I paused the video to do the step, and then I started the video back up to do the next step. The directions were simple. Sewing a straight line…not so simple, for me, anyway. Mine lines were wobbly and messing looking, and that stood out since I was using white thread on dark blue fabric. I didn't have much hope for having a pretty outcome for my masks. However, once the two pieces were sewn together, front to front, and then turned right side out, only the thread line on the bridge of the nose was visible. I intend to color over that with a dark blue permeant marker. Because my sewing wasn't straight, I didn't have a perfect rectangle when done, but you can't tell that once I pull it open. The fabric designs were good, but not fantastic. The video made following the instructions super easy. It was simple to add pipe cleaners to the bridge of the nose (directions for this included in the video). The mask is reversible, giving you a total of eight designs you can choose to wear from, between the four masks. There is a pocket for including the filter. There are four precut squares of material and one long piece of elastic that you must measure and cut. The filter is also a rectangular piece that needs to be cut into quarters. Overall, they were fun, easy to make, and inexpensive.

Reversible Face Mask Pattern
I admit Im not the best at sewing but I have seen better instructions than this. For one thing, the instructions should indicate by some sort of pattern the right side up, leaving the back side plain. lso, I think there are several steps that could be skipped to make this easier. I followed the instructions perfectly but the elastic was still a little snug for my face. I did like that there are 4 different masks included in this set. I am going to try a different way of making them to see if it turns out better. I also wasnt crazy about the selected material options. I think to have these reversible, maybe one side should be a plain color with no pattern on it, while the other side could have a pattern. All in all though its a good project and in this needed time of such a product, Im very appreciative.

    Easy enough for beginners
The instructions are easy to understand and follow if you've ever sewn before. Easier than a regular pattern, so I would rank this with novice (think beginning home economics project). I did not go to the video, the written instructions were enough for me. You will need thread and an iron, plus the sewing machine. My kit only had 7 pieces of fabric (plus the filter fabric), but it was a non issue for me, I have fabric on hand. There is website to use to reach out and I had a number to call 800-844-5400. I did receive these for no charge to review and give my honest opinion. Hope this helps someone.

    A Beginner DIY Sewing Project
This was fun and easy to make. The directions are spot on! You can make adult or youth masks. Everything you need to make 4 face masks (except sewing machine) is in the kit. Pre-cut fabric for the face mask with the elastic makes it even easier. Comes with extra filters that can be cut to fit right in. It's so easy to do. It's the perfect DIY kit. Even a sewing beginner could do this. The finished product even looks good and fits very well. Love it!

    Easy Peasy
This kit was intimidating for sure. I cant sew to save my life. But my mum is a great sewer. So I decided we would both try this. It comes with a link to a how to video on YouTube so it makes it easier to actually see exactly how to do it. So I was absolutely impressed by these masks. Came with the filter insert as well. I made 2 masks and mum made 2. You cant even tell which is which. Overall this was a fun and easy project even with no sewing knowledge or experience. Seems we are going to me wearing these for some time. Knowing how to make my own and some for others will come in handy

    Nice face masks.
This face mask kit comes with eight squares of 100% cotton fabric, filter material, elastic and instructions. You definitely need to use an iron to make creases to achieve professional results. The instructions are well written but I watched the YouTube tutorial before I made mine. The video is very helpful. For my first mask, I followed the instructions exactly as I watched in the video. I was very happy with the end result. Now, you'll notice that one of my masks looks a little different than the other three. That's because after successfully making the first one, I didn't think I needed to refer to the instructions again. That was a mistake. When I turned the 2nd mask right side out, I realized I had made an error but I had already stitched around the edges twice so I didn't want to take it all apart. I believe the wonky mask will still work as is. I referred back to the instructions after that...lol. The 3rd and 4th masks turned out perfect. I used 7 inches of elastic for my ear bands. I have a small face. I'm also planning to use filter squares inside the mask. It's nice to have the option of two different sides of color for each mask. My kit came with fabrics that had feminine patterns and colors for three masks and one set of squares was a more masculine navy blue and a blue/white pattern on the other side. I sent my brother a picture of the blue mask, and he liked it so I'll share that mask with him. This was an easy, fun project.
