Failed Redesign
Strike master this year is using the 7" diameter auger body on both the 7" and 8" Mora Ice Drill. On the 8" they just put on larger blades. It drills just fine but upon pulling the drill back out of the hole the larger blades get stuck on the bottom of the hole. Removing the drill from the hole is very difficult.

    8inch hand ice auger
    Used first time and the blade broke off on third hole.had to buy new blades right away and found out the blade that came on new auger was a rapella blade not strikemaster brand like unit.much disappointed.

    Works good for a old guy with tired shoulders :)
    I have had limited chance to use the Strikemaster Augar but it has been easy to open a hole in the ice quick and easy

    Great for panfish, less so for trout and larger
    Only a 5" auger; didn't say that anywhere on the site when I bought it (didn't google the model number, shame on me). Cuts very quick through ice, but more than 8" gets tiring. Good for getting set up quickly, lets you make plenty of holes for jigging. Downside is that the 5" hole makes it a pain in the neck to pull out larger fish. Works fine for crappie and trout smaller than 16"/2lb, but if you hook anything larger than that, you risk losing the fish, especially when you have big trout running in <12" of water. If you're after larger fish, drop the extra $10, and get the 7" version (just bear in mind that the larger holes will tire you out much faster than you'd think).

    Strikemaster Hand Ice Auger
    Best we have used thus far next to the powered ones. Light weight and easy to use and for me as a woman. Only other product to get higher stars is the powered ones in performance. Thanks for a great product!!
