Great option for hiding and storing a hose.
This is a great option for hose storage! It's very pleasant to the eye and does it's job very well. The automated guide does a great job of distributing the hose across the reel as we put it up each time. I also love the storage area under the top lid. We put our boys' outside water toys in the bin for storage.

Missing Stakes and flimsy Construction
The item ord.ered thru Walmart, arrived on 7/18/21 but without any stakes to secure into ground as mentioned in the Manual. Also the body and the whole unit is very flimsy and does not appear to be designed to last long. The flyer inside from Suncast states that if any problem is encountered, call 1-800-846-2345, which I unsuccessfully called dozens of time, no one is available to answer the phone. Without stakes the unit moves and can not be used by me and I will be forced to return it.

    Great product and service! The hose reel has some very thoughtful and useful features: the swivel bottom, the storage tray, and the gear ratio for easy reeling in. The tray on our unit arrived damage but they sent a free replacement after a few quick emails. Highly recommended!

    So far great for its job, looks nice and is working just how I need it to do. Very smooth rolling and the storage tray inside is definitely an added bonus. Best thing was not having to put it together!

    Love the Reel, not a fan of the Swivel feature
    I own the same hose reel without the swivel. I have had it for two years and it works great. Because most of the parts are plastic, if you want it to last you just have to be gentle with it when pulling the hose out and reeling it in. I purchased the swivel model here because it was going in a spot where I use the hose in multiple directions. If you staked it into the ground the swivel feature would probably work great, but I have it sitting on cement and the swivel is difficult to use. It has notches/indents in the swivel base that hold the reel in multiple positions, but it is hard to get it to swivel because it slides across the cement. I was hoping it was a free spinning swivel system. So if you are going to stake it down I would give it five stars. If you are putting it on cement, I would get the non-swivel model and just spin the whole reel assembly in the direction you want.

    Must have for house owners!
    We have looked all over for a heavy duty hose reel and finally found the perfect one! Has an extra feature of storage bin under the lid plus stakes to anchor in the ground. We liked so much we ordered another for another part of the yard. Price is super, too. Highly recommend!

    Best concealed hose caddy on the Market
    I researched a lot of hose caddies to replace my old one. I wanted one that concealed the hose and preferably one with storage to hold sprayers and other hose accessories. This was the best available that met my criteria. And Walmart had it at the least expensive price. I am generally pleased with my purchase. Despite being all plastic, it looks nice and fits into our new paver patio. The top is hinged to hide a storage bin for hose accessories. The bin is removable to access the hose real if needed. The turning mechanism works fine albeit a little noisy. The hose attached and coiled into the reel easily and worked flawlessly. My only complaint is that while retracting the hose, the box becomes "tippy" and you have to hold it down with your other hand or foot or it will fall over. The base does have four holes to use spikes or lag screws to hold it to the ground or your deck. Not sure I want to drill into my pavers to hold it in place. All in all a solid purchase; But why does something entirely made of cast plastic have to cost so much? It is well built and solid feeling; except for the tippiness upon retracting the hose. The container is not tippy at all once the hose is in place.

    Looks good, very smooth rewinding
    This replaces the Ames Reel Easy reel cabinet I've had for years. You can't beat Ames' willingness to replace a part free of charge, but they didn't have the same model any longer so I found this Suncast model. It looks more refined because it doesn't have wheels. The top part swivels about 45 degrees in either direction and does have some storage space for things under the top. The base comes with two long plastic pins that you drive into the ground holding it tightly in place. Instructions are clear and provides other mounting possibilities, such as for a deck. It empties and rewinds VERY smoothly. I do take the time to have the hose as much in front as possible putting less stress on the rewind process; It literally is like gliding a hot knife through softened butter. I do wish the handle had a spinning handle to more easily spin in your hand as it rewinds, but it rewinds so smoothly that you get used to it and is one less thing to break in the future.

    Suncast quality control issue
    Ordered two units. Both were satisfactory. However, the enclosed hose that fits to the unit and the outdoor facet were both permanently twisted (prevents water from flowing through the hose) in one spot on the hose. Working with the hose in hot water will remedy the problem, but once the hose has this issue it will not go completely away. The bottom line it creates a weak spot in the hose which will cause premature failure compared to the rest of the hose. This is not a Walmart issue, but the manufacturer should include a higher grade hose connection hose and/or be more careful in the preparation for shipping the package.
