Seems to do the job.
Used it in my daughters new tank and my moms new tank. fish seem happy, don't know exactly if it works for anything but the test stripes say the water is good. good price.

I have an existing aquarium with fish that have thrived for several months. PH got a little low so I bought this to level it out. Used according to directions and the next morning all but one of my fish were dead. I tested the ph level with a 5-pad strip test and the ph color indicator was off the chart. I retested a few days later thinking it might be a bad strip and the ph color was still off the chart. I don't know what that is all about! Obviously can't say absolutely that this killed the fish but I can say that after one dose my fish that were very resilient were dead the next morning.

    This is one of those products that does more harm then good. It binds oxeygon. Choking your fish out! Even with a highly aerorated aqureum. Its not enough. Your fish cant breath with this product. It is very stressfull and causes harm to all fish. Just do your regular water changes and you wont need this product. Its not worth the risk! Its not a water conditioner!

    I never write reviews! However...
    I am pretty sure this product just saved my freshwater betta fish tank. I messed up the water levels trying to clean out the tank properly and in doing so, I think I added too much pH increase product from a different brand because my pH went from a 6.0 to an 8.4 (I take full responsibility and this whole fish tank thing is a new experience but I am trying my darn best to give this little $14 betta the best life possible). Then, no matter how much I diluted the water, the pH still would not normalize, even after letting it sit with the filter on. I was desperate so made a quick trip to Walmart to try and find a pH decrease product and came across this one. I added it in and let the filter run its course for 20 min and BOOM the pH finally balanced. I could not believe how fast it normalized. I am hoping this is not a fluke and that this continues to keep the pH balanced but I was finally able to put my betta back in his tank and he is happier then ever. So for now, this product is a life saver.
