Ask Me About My Garden and my Troy-Bilt tillers.
I live to raise my garden; gave away 20 bushels of tomatoes and vegetables to neighbors and the poor. I raise chickens in the city for fertilizer, and to give the soil nitrogen to break compost down & compost the neighbors leaves. I own 3 different sizes: Big Red 20", Pony 16", and a Junior 14" all Troy-Bilt tillers this allows me to plant closer together and a 10" front tine cultivator. They all help keep weeds out. The Big Red and Pony eat green corn stalks, Big Red really does it fast, Pony takes 2-3 more passes.

Initial troubles
Ran ok the first 3 times it started, reverse did not work. Then engine would not start. Starting issue was a safety switch on the drive lever and the reverse issue was corrected by replacing the pulley. This unit is a replacement for a 30 year old Troy Horse and the first think I noticed was the handles are not easily adjusted to the side. It requires a wrench to do it verses the old machine which had a "T" bar for loosening the handle.

    what a tiller!
Prior to my purchase of Big Red,i`ve owned two tillers;a front & a rear tine. The troy-bilt Big Red by far is the best tiller I have owned.I used it to till my garden, afterwards the dirt had a buoyancy to it.AS you step on the soil, you would sink slightly.I`m speaking of Georgia red dirt.I am very pleased.

    One very good machine
I would be lost without my tiller. I have a very large garden. This tiller has the power to till for 5 hours at a time, only to fill up with fuel. It is able to till hard clay with no problem. I am 66 and I can till holding one handle as I go up and down the rows.

    Good Old Reliable Horse
Greatest tiller ever made, bar none. 25 years old and the Briggs 8hp still starts on first pull. Have used the tiller to help neighbors and friends with their gardens for years. One can literally till their yard with this unit using one finger - only to hold on the engine safety switch. Normal wear items are the tines and the tine shaft seals - as they take a lot of abuse. Have replaced these a couple of times already; other than these, no issues whatsoever. Highly recommended unit.

    Great tiller short handle bars
Tiller runs great and will get the job done in no time. The only thing I have a problem with is the handle bars. If you are over 5'8" tall you will have to bend over the wholr time you are useing it. The bars are at the right hieght when the tiller is just seting, but as soon as it digs in 7"+ in the ground you will have bend over. I have them set at the highest seting but they are still 12" to short but than again I am 6'5" tall. It would be a perfect tiller if it had more than 2 setting. Right now it is just a back braker if I use it more than 15 min without stopping to give my back a break. Other than that it is great!

    Why I Love Troy-Bilt
The first Troy-Bilt tiller we bought was in the pony series. It was a hand start and a challenge but we were young and game. We loved working with it and never regretted the purchase. The last one so far has been the big red electric start and we are just as impressed. When we bought it we were working with heavy clay soil. We used it to work vast quantities of leaves and other organic matter into the soil to make it workable for gardening. We were very pleased with the wonderful vegetables and flowers we were able to produce from our amended soil. We will always want a Troy-Bilt!

    older but better
i recently was given a Big red troy built tiller from the 60s or 70s it had sat in a shed that had fallen on it for ten years after cleaning the carb and magnito it starts very easily the tiller has a massive amount of power is easy to use and breaks ground well id say this has to be the best highest quality tiller on the market
