I have owned a ugly stick for many years from light tackle trout and bass to surf cast large stripers and blues with shakespeare reels I find none better for durability and action .A true believer

Bail Wire has been popping off since day 1
I purchased the 10' combo less than a month ago. The bail wire constantly pops out of the housing.

    Great Rod... Reel not so much
    I bought the 10' combo for fishing the surf on the Texas coast. I have used Ugly Stik products for a long time and have always been pleased. The rod on this combo is great. The reel however rusted after the first use. I rinsed and cleaned with fresh water just like my other salt water reels but still rusted. I doubt the reel is intended for salt water use even though its a saltwater combo. Anyway I will be buying a new salt water reel for this great rod.

    Great value
    Great value for the price. Use it for catfish on the snake River. Fished dam tailraces with 6 oz no roll sinkers, good heavy action rod, don't throw cut bait off the hook when casting. Even though heavy action, still could feel Small suckers trying to rob me blind.

    Best bang for your buck
    I have 4 of the big game combo 10' and they've performed great. I only use them for surf fishing when we go to Florida in the winter and didn't want to break the bank for only 2 weeks of use every year. We have caught many fish with them and continue to be pleased with their performance. Thinking of ordering 2 more this winter to get more lines in the water.

    A Bit Dissapointed
    I purchased the 6'-6", 2-piece, big water combo and was very disappointed that there is not a guide on the lower section of the rod (my older model rods do have a guide on the lower section), making it difficult to store with a swivel or leader attached (unfortunately the website doesn't show a picture of each individual rod or I would have opted for a longer 2-piece rod with a guide on the lower section). Although it seems to be much more common now a days, I am not a fan of the reel lacking a lever to disengage the anti-reverse and , for that reason, will probably end up giving it away. I am still quite satisfied with the quality, strength, and durability of the rod and the reel is a good deal when purchased as a combo.

    Great rod for getting into larger gamefish
    This purchase was for my son. He has primarily fished for smaller fish but now wants to move on to larger game. After using Ugly Stiks for many years now, I knew which rod to get him. I would have given 5 stars however I thought it was odd that this rod did not have a guide on the lower section. Since we normally keep the line on the rod when we break it down, there is no way to hold the line in place other than to lock the line with the reel. Other than that, awesome rod!!

    Exelent combo
    Very good combo I just spent a litle more than six hours of fishing and I didn't want to stop very light and strong, some times that doesn't go together but this Ugly stick hit a home run

    Awesome Combo
    Bought this for my 12 year old grandson who is a fishing fanatic, he loved it! I'm going to get one for myself. He will be using this both inshore and offshore in the Gul of Mexico.
