Great taste but check the vacuum seal
Good taste. Very low moisture content for longer shelf life means you'll want something to drink to wash it down. I used to buy these off the shelf but have not seen them in store for a long time. Ordered nine and two were no good due to the vacuum seal being broken (small holes in the foil wrap). Walmart sent me two replacements and one of those had holes, too. Double check these when you get them to make sure they are arrive with the full vacuum seal intact. 5 stars for the product but 2 stars for Walmart delivery product handling.

Hole in sealed package.
I ordered 1 of these packs and was happy with the look and sealing of the vacuum packaging. I ordered 2 more and one of the packs has a small hole/crease (took me awhile to find it) destroying the vacuum seal. I assume it's not safe to eat. Since I'm new to Walmart online, I'm not sure to exchange it.

Poor packaging. Won't last till you need it.
I ordered 4 units for to put in each of 4 cars for emergencies. After 30 days, and the packages were still in the original shipping box, 2 of the 4 packages had lost their vacuum seal. That's the end of the 5 year life. Would have been bad to find a stale or rotten food packet while stuck on the side of the road and hungry.

Overall thumbs down, better to eating your shoe
No. I evaluated a 3600 calorie version against the 2400 calorie version to see which would be most palatable across a range of ages and practical usage. Avoid this specific version of their product and instead, obtain the 3600 calory version as there is a huge taste difference, and children strongly dislike the "yucky" taste of this and favor the 3600 calorie version. Can be mixed into other foods or eaten n its own, but you will need liberal amounts of water to consume these, and people with weak teeth or dentures are strongly encouraged to break the cube up with something and shave it down with a knife to eat as dodgy teeth is the last thing you need in an emergency. The cubed, are not stored properly so it is tough to break the cubes into even sizes,a nd there is a great deal of crumbling, so watch and collect your fragments. This product is better than nothing, but the 3600 calorie product is superior. When possible mix with hot food, or use as a hot food extender. Beware the Palm Oil is this product may produce adverse stomach and intestinal cramping and cause digestive problems you can avoid with other products.

2 of 3 packages arrived damaged
Ordered two of these and one arrived with the mylar bag punctured in the corner with a small hole, just big enough for the vacuum seal to be lost. I asked for a replacement, which was quickly sent without much hassle.. . It too arrived just damaged enough to no longer have a vacuum seal. Only 1 of the 3 bars I received is able to be stored.

    Holes in packaging.
Arrived open. This was shipped in a box with 2 giant bottles of bubble solution, and a tiny piece of brown paper as padding. At some point the packaging was punctured. I had purchased this as part of a birthday gift for my nephew who is very much into survival gear right now. I don't have time to have it replaced before his birthday, so I'm going to have to buy some trail mix or granola bars to add to his kit. I would not recommend purchasing this item unless it is shipped alone or with soft objects.

    Buyer Beware
8 out of 10 bags I bought were sealed correctly. One had a giant cut the other a small cut. All was poorly packaged. The least Walmart can do is issue a refund for the 2 bad ones.

    Makes Good SHTF Oatmeal.
Very dense and dry, but has a tolerable flavor. Resembles a weak apple cinnamon oatmeal mixed with the shell of a strawberry poptart. Break apart in package otherwise crumbs will end up everywhere (doesn't matter so much if out or if shtf). One serving breaks down to a good amount of powder in a basic mortar and pestle, add some hot water or milk and it makes a solid edible oatmeal for a cold morning in the woods. Worth every penny for the caloric content in a bad situation.

    Does what is advertised
I bought 4 of these bars and tested one out. They're packaged like a brick. I tested one out for one day. The bar is hard like you do need a hammer or maybe a good hunting/bush craft knife to cut the bars into the 6 pieces. The taste isn't bad but it is bland kind of like apple cinnamon pie crust. These bars aren't for elders naturally. Plus the sugar content is high as well. The bars are extremely dry so water should be part of survival situation inclusion. I ate one bar for one day and ate each piece as I got hungry. I did last one day on one bar. I can see the bar coming in handy in straight survival situations and they're not ideal for hiking because they're heavy you may as well pack mountain house meals, small stove and Tuna packets since they're lighter to carry in hiking gear. All in all for the price and what it should do in a survival situation these bars would do their job if you happened to have 3 bars on your vehicle if you broke down in the middle of nowhere or your boat ran out of fuel or last effort food rations once your supply ran out. Good to have on hand and it is worth it to add them to your supply.

Good tasting and very versatile ration
these rations are in no way a waste of money. I always keep these for emergencies but have not ever needed them for that yet. do since they are good for 5 years, at one point I decided to open my oldest pack before the expiration date. let me tell you they are not just for emergencies... they are pretty tasty! I keep a few packs in my emergency box and a pack in my car for emergency, but, they are great for just eating. I take them camping for easy breakfast ( they are delicious with a hot cup of coffee) or a quick meal instead of skipping a meal.
