Good
I just received this unit. It's only February, so I won't need it till April. I've been reading the assembly instructions. Looks like I can hook it up. Hoping it works well when I need it. Last summer was soooo hot. It seems easier than the window unit that I had. Putting it in and taking it out. We will see. Nice to pay through Affirm.

WARNING: Trips 15 amp breaker in humid conditions
My home office gets hot because the sun beats down on that side of the house during the later part of the day, so picked this up to help keep the room cool while I work. Not sure what they did but this thing will trip your breaker when it is humid out... Worked fine for a couple weeks but now with humid weather it is tripping the breaker randomly and consistently. This is a brand new house so definitely not an issue with electrical. I even tried plugging it in by itself on the 15 amp circuit and it still ends up tripping it if it is humid out. Again, this did not happen at all before we got humid weather and now it is completely useless. I even tried emptying the water tray and cleaning the filter (which was clean since it was only 10 days old) but it still trips the breaker. It's possible I just got a lemon so I will be taking it back to exchange and see if problem persists.

    I LOVE IT!
I bought this because I was sick of dealing with the heat in my apartment that has no central air conditioning — and it was the best purchase I've ever made! It was very inexpensive and simple to use and it keeps every room that I put it in so cool! I use it every single day. It's not the quietest, but then again, what air conditioner is? It does the job it's meant to do! It's also very neat that it's also a dehumidifier and it has a built in continuous fan feature as well. It lets you know when it needs to be drained (it collects water from condensation) and it doesn't need to be drained that often. I drain it every 3 days and not that much water comes out, so I'm sure you could go longer before you drain it. It's super easy to put together and take apart to clean. When I tell you this is the best purchase I've made recently, I MEAN IT! 10/10.

    Works good
It works for small bedroom. You will need a bucket for water collection and put ac unit in a small table. The sound is a bit louder than a normal fan. It gives you all necessary items like hose. Great option if you dont have an option to install the ac in window.

The A/C MIDEA unit, partly happy customer!
Be very weary of shipping, the A/C MIDEA unit I purchase was almost returned same day! On top of box, specifically says do not lay on side., ( have picture) the box was laying on its side on my porch?! How long was it on its side in trucks all the way here? The box it was shipped in was destroyed (have pictures) was afraid to even open it, thought it was damaged! Well it was 95 degrees in my house with an 18 month old baby! So I made the choice because of the heat to open it! It had some scratches on it, but the box look like it's been through some rough stuff getting here! When I ordered I know I have a 1 yr warranty, but was never asked for an extended one! Would have been nice with the way it was man handled all the way to my home. Not sure how long it's going to last!

    Very nice indeed
If you're looking for a room a/c, this is the popular one. As far as I can see, it is a contained freon. It certainly isn't some water bottles you toss in the fridge. I got this for gaming as well as sleeping. The new video cards are super hot %26 if you have one, know they push out about 86-125° F of air. This Midea portable room a/c takes that away %26 sends it outside (with extra fan). Leaving the room pretty comfortable. This unit is room size. So not super huge, but does a great job in about two hours depending on the air temp. It will shut off once the room reaches the temp you set it at, default is very cold 62°F. This I know from sleeping %26 it shutting off. Thought I blew a fuse. What I have a hard time with is keeping the exhaust plate in the window. I have to get an additional bracket to mount it to the wall. I have to purchase more hose to have it mounted elsewhere, but that's my problem. I haven't had any water issues as yet, but do see that is going to be a facecloth or towel deal once it happens. The hose they ship, really isn't useful for draining that I can see. Both drains are the same set up, so that's nice. I want to point out that the water hose comes folded in the box, so that's not great. It's "appreciated" but should be on the side with the window bracket, not in the instruction bag. Rolling it along the carpet, any carpet is a challenge. The wheels are too little for that. Hard stuff, there isn't a problem. Bottom line, this works fine %26 the honey wants one for downstairs. If it's shipped to you on the side, let it sit correct for a day. I see the "freon" is contained, but so is my fridge %26 I had to leave that for two days if it was shipped sideways. No one does that, do they? The box says two hours if you bring it home. I got the second one %26 love having it downstairs! It doesn't look used. This unit does look "used". Shipping can be a bear, so I brought the second home myself, seeing they had a bunch.

Great, but theres more you have to do.
A life saver for the upcoming summer. Nice cool rooms now. Strong fan and adjustable speeds using the remote. Portability is a major plus instead of putting a heavy a/c in another window. Just make sure you place it on a pan, elevate it a few inches on something and use the hose included to catch all the water from the humidity! Gotta run the hose from the bottom drain hole and run it to another container.

    THE COOLEST IN THE BUSINESS
this air conditioner it great. you need a window for this but the unit is on the ground. i use it for a large master bedroom with a home that has one unit. downstairs is freezing and you blazing upstaits. NOW YOU CAN BE FREEZING IF THATS WHAT SUITS YOU. The only that could make this unti better is if were a little quieter. my sweeting daze are over!

    Great so far!
This size was the smallest I could find in order to fit into a specific place. I still wish they could make them smaller, because if you live in a small home it is very intrusive, no matter what. Having said that, the unit works great so far...only used it 3 times and it will be used only periodically for a small guest bedroom. It was not at all difficult to set up but took a bit of extra creativity with the window installation kit for a sliding window because it is a 1901 beach cottage and nothing like todays sliders! (see photo) My guests were not bothered at all by the sound and said it was much quieter than a window unit at their apartment. We were able to run it only at night as needed because it cooled the space within @ 20 minutes. This is a home on a barrier island in SWFL with no AC at all. We'll see next month how that affected our electric bill and hope that the unit continues to operate smoothly! I moved the unit to be able to drain the bottom because I plan to do this regularly after use as it will be "stored" in place. I had no idea how much water would drain out. It was relatively easy to do by using a rimmed cookie sheet lined with soaker cloths and moving the corner underneath. (see photo) Even after only a few nights of use there was @ 1/2 cup of water. If you did this often enough and were not on a carpet you could probably place a thick towel underneath to absorb the drainage. I don't ever want to wait for that warning signal to come on!

    Love it.
Love the fact that it will cool a room quickly while very quiet. Only drawback is the fact that they only have it where one part of air intake in the back fills with dust. I had to get a Q-Tip to clean it as best I could then ended up putting a thin carbon air filter pad over the area so it will be easier to clean.

A perfect unit to just cool your room
The unit quickly cooled down my bedroom and the installation was very easy. I really like the comfort sense feature, which adjusts the temperature to the location of the remote, nit the AC unit

    Powerful Portable
I checked a lot of places for an affordable portable AC unit for my bedroom, and after reading reviews and specs for this particular model I made the purchase. While waiting for delivery, I found out via another review that this model is rated best for small rooms, and my bedroom is tiny, less than 200sf. Installation was straightforward, the device is simple to use, doesn’t take up much room, and this little guy puts out lovely cool air which will make sleeping through our Tucson summer a breeze for both myself and my dog! I’m very happy I bought this portable air conditioner!

    Surprisingly cool
I purposely waited to write this review to allow any problems to creep up of there were going to be any. So with that said it's the 14th of Oct. and a received this Midea 5000 btu Portable Air Conditioner with remote on the 19th of June. I think 4 months has been plenty of time, don't you? To date we haven't had any problems with this unit! I don't run it all the time only at night, we have central a/c, but our bedroom gets warmer due to it being the farthest away from the main unit. I've only emptied the water from the unit once, it was easy, I just used the hose that came with it and a flat pan, not much came out but I was just keeping it maintained. I like the way it's free standing so I can set it up beside and in front of our dressers, because I don't have a whole window that's available to place a unit in. We previously had another brand portable unit but I returned it due to it constantly shutting down for no reason and not turning back on. And I'm happy to say this Midea unit has been nothing like the other one. Even though at the time of purchase the Midea brand was unknown to me, I'm so glad I took a chance, it also helped I bought the extended warranty:) We enjoy cool nights sleep every night now. And as the season comes to an end I will easily remove the flexible duct and plate out of the window, clean the filter, drain the unit and store it back in the original box and place it in the corner of the closet for next year.

Works great and looks nice in the room
This AC was exactly what I needed for my bedroom. The room is on the third floor, almost exactly 150 square feet, and gets full sun most of the day, but this little unit manages to keep it comfortable even when temps get to the triple digits. What I like most is the small profile and clean look. I had another brand portable AC this size previously and this one blends in much better. I also find it to be pretty quiet as far as portables go (they will always be louder than window units because the compressor sits inside the room). The temp sensing remote is helpful too. All in all I'm very happy with this unit especially for the price.

    Extremely disappointed in this product.
After researching portable air conditioners for at least two weeks, I am extremely disappointed in my decision and this product. I obviously paid too much attention to reviews that were gathered for a promotion. Other negative rewiews warned me of this. Even before the promotion of this product, I noticed Midea was rated better than Whirlpool and Frigidaire, with an average of 4 stars on every model. That impressed me. There is no DARN way, that was anywhere close to the truth. I don't believe this is an easy set up. Does your home have a window with an outlet within 4 feet? It better! We do. We are trying to cool an older sunroom which gets quite warm. The room is approximately 6ft. X 12 ft. The only relief is directly in front of this unit. Try using the comfort sense remote anywhere else, even on top of the unit. This unit is an embarrassment to me and my family and this company. I do not need help installing, and I wouldn't give this company one second of my time. I am not one to complain, but the truth about this product needs to be known for the better of its consumers. I live in WA state. We have a Haier 5000 BTU window air conditioner that was used in our kitchen and living for one year and almost three years in our bedroom. We bought it in store at Wal-Mart for $116. It is still running as strong when we first got it. I'm NOT paying over $200 for a product that doesn't work even brand new. I've read the users manual 3 times now. Nothing has changed. This product is useless. It won't last the 90 day return. I want it gone immediately. I'm so disappointed in my decision to purchase and the product itself. One more thing, is it really portable? That was an important factor for me. The answer is no. A window air conditioner is more portable! That is what I will be enjoying in this old sunroom. Fortunately, I am able to order right away with 2 day delivery from Wal-Mart, before I get the runaround from Midea. I hope this has helped any consumers interested in this lousy product. Cheers!
