4.00 out of 5 stars reviewVerified Purchaser06/30/2022No Exterior CoverI don't understand why exterior of a/c unit has no protective cover and coils and whole a/c is exposed to rain and lightning. Every unit my neighbors have and my previous A/C always had a coverSophiaG

5.00 out of 5 stars reviewVerified Purchaser07/10/2021Just what I neededThis purchase has been a life saver. With the recent extreme heat wave in our area I couldn't be more satisfied with my new in the wall air conditioner. Not only was it super easy to install it's even easier to operate. I often use only the fan. It's a little nosier than I expected but not enough to disturb my sleep. As a matter of fact I find it kind of lulls me to sleep. I haven't received my electric bill since installation, which by the way my Grandson did for me. I'm expecting a lower bill than with my previous years old model. All in all, I would say this is one of the best purchases I've made in a long time. Very, very satisfied. Looks good, too!!!Maggie Lu

4.00 out of 5 stars reviewVerified Purchaser06/10/2021Works great for the roomI bought this unit to replace an old loud unit. Worked perfectly over the summer. Next spring, it didn't work. Called LG and they arranged for service. They replaced the circuit board and now it works perfectly again.Gwokmoore

3.00 out of 5 stars reviewVerified Purchaser06/02/2021Good price & performance, but very loudSo I bought this a couple of weeks ago in preparation for the NYC summer and I am happy that I did because this does its job with cooling down the apartment. I found it at a great price (through the wall ACs are really expensive!), and it looks decent in the room - nothing beautiful, but at least it's nondescript and unnoticeable. That is until you turn it on, this thing is LOUD - I honestly just leave it on the full on mode vs. energy saver because when it turns on and off it would wake me up or distract me. The only reason that I am giving this a 3 star review instead of a 1 or a 2 star review, is mostly because it's so affordable (compared to others), and looks halfway decent. I do have the say, the trim kit it comes with helps make it look better. I just wish the vents pointed in better directions and it were a little quieter.nycaptdweller

5.00 out of 5 stars reviewVerified Purchaser04/20/2021Good Deal!Energy efficient, attractive and easy to use. I put it in a Florida rental and am very satisfied. Am actually seeing a lower elec bill over the old ac that was in thereJoan

5.00 out of 5 stars reviewVerified Purchaser03/08/2021Good AC, insulation difficult.I like the unit, not the quietest but not overly loud. Cools the room in south Florida very well. This is a through the wall unit and it does not come with the outside box to cover ac components, that you buy separately and install first. I bought the metal box suggested for this unit and it worked fine. Make sure box has slight tilt and is squared. Screwed box into the walls using a level and used a can of spray insulation all around to lock it in. Finally put a wood trim inside around box to dress it up after ac is in. Outside used plastic trim to do the same. Hardest part was trying to put the insulation strips in the areas of the box and ac as suggested and then sliding the unit in. Could not do it. Insulation kept rolling back in when ac pushed in. In the end I put the unit mostly in and pushed insulation all around it then pushed it the rest in and with a screw driver pushed the rest of the straps in between ac and metal box. Best I could do.Robert

4.00 out of 5 stars reviewVerified Purchaser09/21/2017Quieter than I was expectingIn terms of features this AC doesn't offer anything you wouldn't get elsewhere. Fan noise is just average for a window/wall AC, don't expect it to be quiet there, but the compressor noise is remarkable: I can't hear the compressor at all! In this respect I was very impressed with this unit, as I'm used to window ACs with a much more annoying midrange compressor sound. The sound of the compressor on this unit is very low pitch so you won't notice it. And there are no annoying rattles from the front grille! The unit detects temperature pretty well in Cool mode, but not so well in the energy saver mode - you have to adjust the temperature down a lot in energy saver mode to get it to hold the room at the set temp you want. I would have preferred if it had a remote temperature sensor like some of its more-expensive competition so that the energy saver mode could be more effective. As it is it's annoying that it has to switch the fan on and off all the time to test the temperature of the room. Competing models use the remote to determine when to turn on and off. The unit offers a "dry" mode but it's unclear specifically what this does or how it's different, if at all, from the energy saver mode. I wouldn't expect much from that mode, but I would have liked more information about it in the manual. I use the timer sometimes, so I'm glad to have that feature. The unit offers a vent that promises to include 10% outdoor air if you open it. I would have preferred a 100% vent fan mode, but I can't expect that from a window/wall AC. Finally, though installation is relatively simple once you know what you're doing, the manual(s) are very complicated with respect to installation. The manual included with the unit included installation information that was wrong (!) and differed in some respects form the manual that is online. For example, the manual shipped with the unit gave incorrect information about the placement of some of the insulation foam, and both manuals are very unclear about when the angling shims are actually required to ensure proper condensate draining. I haven't had any problems, so apparently you don't need the shims if you install with an LG wall sleeve, but I had no way of knowing that from the limited information in the manual. Overall, if you *have* to use a through-the-wall AC, I recommend this unit, and I like it better than window ACs. However, if you can go for a minisplit instead, do that.
