coir soil that expands when you add water
this is great Coir Soil, just what I needed
and I had fun watching the compressed block expand and drink up the rainwater I had collected
safe to add to indoor plants and not worry about critters
and good to mix in sandy or clay soils
ordered some more as a gift and gonna send my mom some too!

Ground up plastic and chemical smell
This thing was loaded with large and tiny pieces of ground up plastic. I went through the whole thing but eventually we decided to throw it out as it smelled like chemicals. We bought several of these, but right out of the gate, we got quality control issues.

5.00 out of 5 stars reviewVerified Purchaser09/23/2021Perfect soil amendmentPerfect soil AMENDMENT for raised garden. Here is what I do: I mix some of this with plain old food scraps of veggies and fruit and some regular top soil. In Houston - the heat and rain degrades the scraps to compost fast. I wouldn't use this by itself.Anne

1.00 out of 5 stars reviewVerified Purchaser08/05/2021Not soil, plants dieThis is not dirt, it's coconut hair. It has zero nutrients and everything I planted in it is dying. Plants in miracle grow are thriving. I'll never waste money on this garbage again. These tomatoes were all planted at the same time. Those 3 scrawny plants in the middle were planted in this stuff. It is not potting soil. It isn't soil at all.printlady

5.00 out of 5 stars reviewVerified Purchaser04/02/2021Makes a LOT of soilThis is in sectioned off sheets of 4. So you can pull away one sheet at a time as needed instead of expanding the entire block. It's great for small living and storage. I potted 5 plants with this soil.Fay

1.00 out of 5 stars reviewVerified Purchaser03/01/2021Not potting soilTotal crap. Do not waste your money. It says potting soil, but its coconut fibers. Any gardener knows the difference. Nothing will grow in it because it is not potting soil. Looks and feels like crappy mulch. Do not waste your time, by which, took well over an hour to get two moistened.LosAngeles

2.00 out of 5 stars reviewVerified Purchaser12/11/2019Chemical smellPurchased this product to use for my reptiles because website says that secondary use includes reptile bedding. I was put off by the bottom of the label saying "Not for use in organic crop and organic food production in the state of California" when the website makes no indication of this. Once re-hydrated, it gave off a plastic chemical smell. I don't know if I got a bad batch, but not worth the risk.anon

5.00 out of 5 stars reviewVerified Purchaser10/04/2019it's my secret ingredient to a beautiful gardenThis product meets my high standards for entering my beautiful, lush, giant, tropical midwest garden. I have been using this type of media for a few years I am finally glad to see Walmart carry it at such a decent price. I would be interested in knowing pH values mineral values and what have you as I've noticed some plants transferred can be affected greatly but usually bounce back once transferred into this type of media I do notice the packaging says complete potting mix so I often wonder if anything is actually added to this as coconut coir itself to me doesn't seem like it should sustain plant growth.Sketchy
